New Yorker magazine is worried about about Chick-Fil-A

Thanks. Went to school in St. Louis (in the 80s); there are so many really good local restaurants there.

Terrified of being overrun by Christians.

What is the world coming to?

I happened to be in NYC the week the first CFA opened there a couple of years ago. 6th Ave near 50th St, iirc. I didn’t know about it, just happened on it and my jaw dropped to the ground in wonder that there would be such a politically incorrect company right there in the heart of liberal country. Then I noticed the line and promptly joined it even though it was almost out the door. But they were very ready for that line and got us served quickly. Sold …

Speaking of other chicken places, I agree KFC has declined. Think Popeye’s has too. Bojangles is ok; Zaxby’s is not that good; Raising Cane’s is pretty good, but limited menu. Among the standard fast food franchises, I think Hardee’s (Carl’s out west) has the best chicken sandwiches, but that isn’t saying much.

Being in a busy CFA is like watching a finely choreographed dance. It’s the only fast food place I’ll dare set foot in when the line is out the rafters because I know I won’t be in there for hours on end.

And 99 times out of 100, the order is correct. They screwed up once, and the kid argued with me (claimed I ordered a chicken salad sandwich, which I would never order because I can’t stand the stuff due to a personal aversion to mayonnaise), but the manager fixed it and everything was fine.

By the way poor KFC left homemade behind to their chicken rivals.
When I was a kid, KFC was the best (in my memory)

Tried is several times in the last decade and hated it. Food was kinda tasteless and seemed expensive.

This was also my experience. KFC was awesome when I was young. It is now terrible - usually dry, the pieces are small, the prices sky high, the restaurants usually dirty and the staff usually rude.

It’s also getting harder to find a fried chicken place in general nowadays. There are 1324256 burger joints and pizza parlors, but almost no fried chicken.

Roy Rogers chicken is often good, although it can be very dry if the restaurant staff let it sit too long.
I’m also a fan of Church’s Fried Chicken. But it is hard to find either of those in my part of the US these days.

A few little independently-owned joints have sprung up to partially fill the fried chcken gap. They tend to be operated by older African-American ladies and if you can handle having to wait longer than usual for the food to come out, it’s very good.

There’s one attached to a local Baptist church near me…

I get why people are Baptists now. STUNNING fried chicken

Forgot about Church’s. I’d put them between Popeye’s and Bojangles. Haven’t tried Roy Rogers. I’ve run across a few independent and black-run BBQ and fried chicken restaurants here and there. Some were really good, some not so much.

If you’re ever in Nashville, go to Prince’s in East Nashville. The best local fried chicken joint in town. 😋

Church’s is good but limited menu.

Popeye’s is better. Bojangles is da bomb for fast food chicken. (I get a Cheddar Bo with my chicken every time.)

No Roy Rogers here. (We used to have several.)

Only one KFC. Still love it but has gotten very expensive. They had a hot chicken recipe last year that was an epic fail. Didn’t even make my eyes water.

Chick-Fil-A is one I haven’t had in a long time. But love the simplicity of their chicken sandwiches.

But as I told Bear, nothing beats Prince’s for the best chicken you’ve ever put in your mouth. You can sit there and watch them make it. They’re local but their fame is spreading.

Hattie B’s is another local chicken place that has them lined up around the corner. The chicken is very tasty. But I prefer the sides and banana pudding.

I love their spicy chicken sandwiches, and their fries are great- but it seems that they’re closed most of the days I have the opportunity to go (guess what day that is?).

It seems pretty obvious why the New Yorker wouldn’t like them. Faithful Christians don’t quite get a seat at the table of tolerance these type of people boast about having.

Unfortunately, there are no Bojangles in any of the several states where I spend time. The only one I’ve ever seen or been in was somewhere in the middle of Virginia when I was taking a Greyhound bus and the bus driver decided to make Bojangles the lunch stop.

CFA caters lunch at my school… It’s absurd how much people will rack up on their lunch accounts haha

Yum 🙂 I prefer the nuggets though.

Pianistclare: Good grief, and I thought I lived in the sticks 😛 Fires in airports? People not knowing how to drive in snow?

Chick-fil-A is high in calories and fried chicken is not good for you. It would be better to switch to a more health-conscious alternative.

Baptist churches have at least annual gatherings that at my grandmother’s church were called “Homecoming” (I have no idea why).

Oh, the food itself was a religious experience. And there is no blasphemy in that statement at all! 😍😍

Breathing and coffee have also been declared by the state of California to cause cancer.

I’ll take my CFA and my Starbucks. And my respiratory drive.

Good grief. Even this military RN knows “everything in moderation”.

I live here but I never ate them because there’s none in my area nor where I work but I wouldn’t mind having some Chick Fil A. I see people like this all the time and it probably wouldn’t surprise any of you that individuals like the one that wrote the contents of this article have got to be among the biggest cowards that ever lived. They live in a fantasy world believing in nothing but their own inflated egos relying on their trust funds to fuel their superficial existence, let’s just say that they’re hipsters as an umbrella term of sorts. Even here in NYC many people can’t stand these people because of their insufferable arrogance. I come from a working class hard working family and whenever these people try to tell me what’s what all I can do is role my eyeballs.
