From the BBC:New Zealand’s parliament has legalised same-sex marriage, the first country in the Asia-Pacific region to do so.

Lawmakers approved the bill on Wednesday, amending the country’s 1955 marriage act.

The bill was passed with a wide majority, with 77 votes in favour and 44 against.
[bibledrb]2 Thes 2:1-7[/bibledrb]

The word “revolt” in verse 3 is translated from the Latin, discessio, meaning schism. The Greek is ἀποστασία (meaning defection, apostasy)

Acceptance is spreading. Ask many high school and college students about same sex marriage. In my experience they are overwhelmingly accepting of it just as they seem to be of the homosexual lifestyle.

Just like in France and Britain it has been imposed by government, not by the will of the people. Polls from New Zealand on redefining marriage are divided, there is no consensus among the public to redefine marriage. The arrogance of lawmakers for them to think all they have to do is vote to redefine marriage and sign it into law with a signature and all of a sudden marriage is redefined :nope: It is legal fiction

Ah, I have no problem with the passing of the marriage law as long as the non-willing church and state are far.

It’s the agenda they’re pushing, almost indoctrinating among us. They have to stop getting uppity every single bloody time someone gets sued because someone’s religious/moral beliefs inhibit them from serving/dealing with a gay marriage. It’s their views. They don’t have to do anything. Someone’s gay, then good for them, really, you know? God bless for knowing who you are. But don’t make it the focus of your entire life.

Since both the nations you mention choose their representatives through election, it would seem to follow that there must be substantial support among the people. If not, the politicians would be committing political suicide…a very rare event.

Not necessarily support; it may be more a matter of indifference, or laissez-faire: “Fine, I won’t bother them, as they don’t bother me”, or something of that sort.

Now when are we going to cave, I wonder… 😦

Poor New Zealanders, they have my prayers.

Thankfully our Prime Minister here in Australia, though an atheist, disagrees with same-sex marriage.

I find it amazing how such a crucial issue like marriage is not the subject of nation-wide votes. The answer why is obvious, of course, since such voting tends to result in conservative votes, and so imposition from above. Just wait till it’s brought hook, line and sinker into the schools.

I hope the Protestants don’t cave in on this. We Catholics need them to stand with us in the culture war, now more than ever.

All the Kiwis will be waiting for now will be legalisation of sheep relations…

😉

Protestants will cave on this that is a given…almosty certainly not all, but those that do will surely cause further splintering within Protestantism.

The United States is next to legalize same-sex marriage. It’s only a matter of time. Same-sex marriage has been legal here in Canada for a while now.

Unfortunately, although I hate to say it, Ireland may legalise it too, with a possible referendum next year.

*THE Government will hold off on a gay marriage referendum until later next year, despite overwhelming support for change from a powerful constitutional forum.

The potentially divisive issue has been put on to the political agenda after 79pc of delegates at the Constitutional Convention voted in favour of it.

Although Taoiseach Enda Kenny declined to give his own view on gay marriage, he is not expected to block a referendum given the strong support from the Constitutional Convention.

However, it is understood that he is going to keep his own position private and his party is in no great rush to move on the referendum.*

There yeh go, the planet is surely going down the plug hole ! ripe for the man of perdition…

Nothing surprises me now, many in power would sell their soul to stay in power, in Ireland and across the world, God will have the final say though…

The whole world is turning into one big Sodom and Gomorrah. It’s warned about in the Bible.

tsk tsk tsk…

Political correctness is tyranny with manners. Lets pray Australia and any other countries won’t fall victim to this.

Lord have mercy.

The whole world is turning into one big Sodom and Gomorrah. It’s warned about in the Bible.
“Likewise as it was in the days of Lot – they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built, but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom fire and sulphur rained from heaven and destroyed them all – so will it be on the day when the Son of man is revealed.” - Luke 17:28-30

Ugh. Yet another country gives in to moral depravity. 😦
It’s not the country: it’s the government imposing its will onto the country. Now, I’m sure some would say that in a representative democracy the will of the parliament is the will of the people, but that’s simply nonsense. The will of the people is very imperfectly represented in a vote that takes place once every three or four years. How can the two be equivalent?
