I thought the Arc of the Covenant was in Axum Ethiopia? Seriously.

The people there have a simple reconstruction of the Temple and there are number of Jewish artifact dating to the time of the Babylonian exile in the region. The epople there, formerly Jews now mostly Crhstians, claim they have it, though no one is ever permitted the see it. The caretaker is a monk who, once he enters the temple groups never leaves. He is even buried there by his successor, I believe, when he dies.

Hate to disappoint but it doesn’t say the church housed the Ark but that it was built on a site believed to have housed the Ark.

I’m with rpp. I tend to believe the Ark is in Ethiopia but not in Axum - or it’s in a giant warehouse of the US government! 😃

right.
the article only states the the site of the church may previously have housed the tabernacle…
of course, the tabernacle was long gone by the time the church was erected.

Still, I’m with the people who would like this team to excavate further so as to reclaim more Jewish history…

I believe the ark was removed from the earth when the true ark of the covenant (Mary) entered the world. For it was within Mary that we find the Law (not the 10 commandment but the Word of God) , the authority (not the staff of Moses but the one given all authority in heaven and on earth), and the bread from heaven (not the manna from the desert but the true bread).

SO the ark is in heaven (after the assumption of course) never to be seen till the last day when we all will be raised.
Revelation 11:19-12:2, 5 Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant could be seen in the temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder, an earthquake, and a violent hailstorm. A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was with child and wailed aloud in pain as she labored to give birth. … She gave birth to a son, a male child, destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod. Her child was caught up to God and his throne.
