Don’t be afraid to talk, laugh, and joke during sex. My wife and I began talking during sex about what worked, and what didn’t, and that really was the key for us.
 laugh  That can cause physical pain!! we have a strict no laughing rule 🤷 😃

I am getting really frustrated, I am depressed. I don’t know what happened. We were good, we waited. And it seems like we should have been “having fun” when we felt like it, and now…we just never feel like it. I mean…the passion is just GONE.
Promiscuous people frequently express disappointment at first sex. So don’t think you’ve missed anything by being chaste.

Are you trying for a baby?

Um, without sounding too tacky, I would simply add that, like anything you do, learning to play the piano, learning to ski, playing baseball, learning to sew, it takes practice.

Relax and enjoy the closeness. But I think the key is practice, practice practice.

And, no, this is not meant tongue-in-cheek.

Have lots of sex. Often. Wear lingerie, especially if it accents his “favorites”. Don’t be afraid to go out on a limb with sexy undergarments. Do everything you can think of during sex that turns you on as long as it remains in the marital embrace. Ask HIM to wear something sexy. This may be TMI, but when my husband wears his boxer shorts with hearts on them, SOMETHING is gonna happen! LOL!
If you still talk mushy, believe me, you still have the spark. Anyway it does take time to build up a great sex life, and that will continue throughout your marriage. Sex is something that must be worked at always.
After you have kids, believe me, you’ll look back with nostalgia for when you could do it whenever you please. So make it special now while you have a chance!

So funny you mention this! My DH just started wearing boxer briefs and sometimes I’ll be sitting at work thinking about how cute his butt looks in them. 😃 My DH is HOT.

Yeah, boxer briefs are much better than tightie whities. 😛

My DH, if he comes at me wearing well-fitting jeans and no shirt…yum…I attack him. He does it on purpose cuz he knows I like it.

See, Delphinus, there are ways for both sides to spice it up! But communication is the key. We ladies wear things that accentuate what our DHs like…because we know what he likes. And our DHs wear things that show off what we like…because he knows what we like.

wow, so much to respond to. I have been thinking about it as I read your responses and a few things come to my mind. The stress on me lately has been more than I have ever had. I am unemployed, getting turned down for jobs several times a week (after they tell me they LOVED me in the interview) I have student loans to pay off, not to mention I gained 10 pounds on the honeymoon, and all of this after gaining 45 pounds after being anorexic. Plus there is the fact that I graduated, had a HORRIFIC room mate situation, got married, lost a dear family pet, brother left for missionary work in the carribean, new pet, has put SO much stress on me that I’ve had digestion issues, loss of appetite, neck and back pain, and horrific recuring headaches, and just a few days ago this all culminated in a glorious yeast infection making any hoseplay impossible.

Also, our marriage has sucked for sexual intimacy. I am on ABC for health reasons, and if it weren’t for these pills there would be no sex at all since part of the problem was robbing me of ALL sex drive. It hasn’t been easy. My DH had his appendix out 3 months ago, and he was out of action for a couple weeks, then I got an oral infection due to impacted wisdom teeth, found out I had FIVE wisdom teeth. So I had to take antibiotics (which counteract the pills) then had my surgery and was on antibiotics for another 2-3 weeks or so. This meant we went through almost 2 months of our marriage totally dry. ABC medication has beena hard cross for us to bear, so trust me when I say I wish I could get on NFP and have a normal body. 😦 it’s just not feasable.

At any rate, there is a lot of good advice on here, and it made some hints my DH has made obvious. Lingere, and more flirting. And something he has said is that when I am going to the gym I feel better about myself and that kind of gets him going.

No wonder.
Just concentrate on bills and health for the moment. You can hardly expect a good sex life with all that going on. However none of it looks permanent.

If you can afford it, I’d recommend taking a break from looking for a job. Just be content to mooch around home for a while, not trying to achieve anything much. Not forever, of course. Just for now.

Actually my husband has suggested it. The problem is we can’t really afford it, but it almost seems worth it to him. I am weird though. I’ve always been kind of an overachiever. Great GPAs scholarships, I even skipped a year of school in grade school. So not being able to get a decent entry-level secretarial/front desk job has been really tearing me up. NOT working is far more stressful. I had a great temp job for about 3 weeks, and life was never better for us. SO yeah…I need a job. If anyone has any suggestions…it’d be great. The only thing i get back is “We love you!! You were great in the interview! We’ll make a decision soon and let you know” then I get the call…“You were fantastic, and we had such a hard time choosing, but we are going to go with someone else for now.” And I ask if there is anything I can do for the future to be more successful and they respond with “Nothing really…we really wanted you, but there were so many good applicants.” In many cases they tell me I am either their first or second backup. sigh

Your getting interviews that’s good!!!

I hope you are taking care of yourself please take care of yourself.

Stress is awful on the body be careful!.

ABC takes away your sex drive too.

I really hope you are getting yourself the best medical care you can.

I read your post here and I am more worried about your health then lingerie. Praying for you.

Have you signed up with an employment agency? They look for work for you, while you look for yourself. 👍 They are highly motivated to keep you employed, because their paychecks depend on it.

Thank you. I have been in to see a doctor more times than I care to think about. THe ABC has actually helped my sex drive because the issue I was basically making me have no sex drive at all. The regulation of hormones, however slight it is, has got me back on track. The doctor I am seeing says as long as i eat right, exercise, and take my pill properly I should see dramatic improvement in my issue. Plus he suggests getting off it soon so we can have kids because the only thing he’s seen that really works permanently is pregnancy. So even my doc is suggesting getting preggers rather soon LOL. And trust me, we plan to just as soon as life gets normal. Our passion for children is…unmatched. LOL. Especially now that his brother and new wife are expecting. We’re guilty of looking at baby clothes together and sighing.

Actually I am working with one right now. They have sent me out of a few interviews, and I just got off the phone with my “agent” about one job. She says everyone I have worked for and interviewed for has given me rave reviews, but due to cutbacks or whatever, they hire someone else. She says the reviews I get are encouraging to her though.

One of the best ways to get a job is to know someone. This means you need to get involved anywhere and everywhere. Sign up for a couple of Parish committees or ministries, volunteer at the hospital or the library or the Humane Society, meals on wheels or a school. With the political season in full swing, find a party or canidate you support and volunteer for the campaign, if you do not know who, call your local Right to Life office and volunteer for them.

The more people you meet, the more contacts you make, and the more chances of landing a great job.

I am so glad you are taking care of yourself. And prayers for babies when you are both healthy.

I know I ask a lot of questions abou tthis on here, but I literally have no one to talk to about it…how sad is that?

At any rate, I just have a question for newleds/not-bo-newlyweds. I found that sex (my husband and I waiting for our wedding night BTW and we were both virgins) is kind of overrated. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not BAD, but…I dunno lol.

A problem I am having is that on our wedding night, it was great. There wasn’t a whole lot of hot and heavy “passion” because we were both nervous. The problem is…there hasn’t really been passion SINCE then. It’s kind of like “hey, you wanna?” “yeah sure…” “okay…”

I just don’t get it. When we were dating we’d get in trouble just LOOKING at each other. Holding hands wasn’t even pure for us, and we struggled for the 3 years of our dating relationship to keep it pure. I NEVER thought passion would ever be a problem. But it seems like my sex drive (and his) not to mention our passion not only fizzled on our wedding day…but DIED.

I am getting really frustrated, I am depressed. I don’t know what happened. We were good, we waited. And it seems like we should have been “having fun” when we felt like it, and now…we just never feel like it. I mean…the passion is just GONE.

Has anyone else gone through this? Is this normal? Does anyone have any advice? I really miss when we couldn’t keep our hands off each other. We had to restrain then, but now that we don’t have to, we don’t want to! 😦
I would highly recommend Christopher West’s “Theology of the Body for Beginner’s”. A wonderful book! It brings an understanding of what we as sexual beings is really about. The “marital embrace” is a renewal of your wedding vows. And that “feeling” as that embrace is concluding is a mere glimpse as to what kind of feeling heaven will be like. To stand in the precense of our Lord.

And to think people say Catholics think sex is evil and they hate it…jeez
if someone says that to me I’m just going to show them this thread:p
