I just attended the March for Life Rally in Washington, DC, with the over 300 young people, Priests, Deacons, Seminarians, and BIshop Carlson. In so many ways the experience touched my heart. I came away with the Hope and Peace of knowing that the Love for Jesus, our Catholic Faith, and love for one another is alive and well. I learned, in a grand and beautiful way that we must be truly Willing to See the Work of the Holy Spirit. We must choose this as the foundation and basis of how we view the world. The work of the Holy Spirit is always there, we must pray for this to be our focus.
Over 25k young people, along with several hundred priests, seminarians, and bishops, celebrated Mass at the Verizon Center, and then we marched. As we sung songs of praise, prayed together, were One in Christ, and celebrated Eucharist together, we were purposeful and directed in our desire to show and believe in the sanctity and gift of Life from the very young to the very old, We were able to be open to what really matters, our focus became pristine. BIishop Carlson, in a special way, along with many other gifted presiders, reminded all that we are born in the Image of Christ, all of us. Somehow we manage to lose that along the way, though media, pop culture, and by a distortion of the Truth. Lorve, forgiveness, a desire for the healing of a nation and post abortive women and men,and a desire to do God’s will, a concreteness in realizing what “Do this in rememberance of Me” really means, touched in a profound way, every participant… Realizing that this Love and Hope did not stop there, but by the very act of our willing participation, moved the whole world towards the Love of God.
I would like to note that many Seminarians witnessed their Vocation in a real and concrete way to the young people. There had been some delay in leaving, the Seminarian on our bus took this opportunity to tell about his Journey towards Discernment. This was extremely powerful, what a gift for all.
Next year, I wish that you all could experience this, it will transform you. I would like to thank Bishop Carlson, the Office of Youth Ministry and Christian Service, as well as the Priests, Deacons, Seminarians, chaperones, and our special young people, for attending and for providing the opportunity to go and witness this beautiful expression of our Faith.
