Newt Gingirch serves a purpose as a talking head, an author and a filmmaker, but I won’t vote for him for President if he runs.
Code:
I WILL vote for ANYONE over the Marxist menace in the WH, BUT, JJ and I agree on something. Newt is a fraud! Why, he even was filmed with Nancy Pelosi in a commercial aimed at stopping the "anthropogenic global warming" scam! Rob

Let’s see I had sex outside the sacrament of marriage!!! Yes before I was a practicing Catholic I had sex before I was married. YES I’M A SINNER!!! Not proud of it.

Am I a hypocrite?

Should I be banned from public office?

If it came down to voting for our current President and Newt I’ll vote for Newt a practicing Catholic and HELLO PRO-LIFE!

You without sin cast the first stone?

They view him as being in a valid sacramental marriage. He is in full communion with the Catholic Church is allowed to receive all the sacraments.
How does it work this way? I am very curious. If, say, a married Muslim converts to Catholicism, is his marriage considered sacramental and valid? See what I am asking?

Did you go on national tv promoting “family values” and suggest that anyone who did not act accordingly should not be elected? Did you fight against others on the basis of “family values”?

No on is talking about “banning,” anyway. Just simply that Americans won’t forget that he was a “values” guy who was not practicing what he was preaching. Americans tend to hold that against politicians: when we think that they are not living by the standards that they suggest the rest of us should live by.

Divorce doesn’t bother me at all, and I would vote for a divorced candidate easily. But not, of course, if he went around claiming that people should not divorce.

Incorrect. He was acquitted of the charges of perjury and obstruction of justice by the Senate. Judge Susan Wright sanctioned him for contempt of court two months later and, though he could have, he chose not to fight it and his license to practice law was only *suspended for five years * after which time he chose not to renew it. He wasn’t disbarred.
Got it. Being cited for contempt of court and allowing the bar to suspend his license for misconduct, all while occupying the oval office, didn’t sully the highest office in the land. Anyone who thinks he sullied the office must be talking about sex.

I don’t think he was technically acquitted of charges by the Senate, because the Senate only voted on impeachment.

He is now a practicing Catholic yeah he messed up in the past people change he’s had a conversion to the Catholic faith—**it called forgiveness? **

We need to pray for all involved. God bless Newt who has seen the light of the Catholic Church.

Oh sorry I guess you don’t pray anymore?

I don’t hold his divorce against him at all. You are missing my point. And as far as I am concerned, he has done nothing to be forgiven for.

I actually do pray, but rarely. But that is of no importance here.

Whether Newt has cleaned up his personal life or not is between him and God. The fact that he appeared with the ghoulish Nancy Pelosi in a commercial to trumpet the “fixing”, errr… TAXING of America for the “sin” of using fossil fuels gets personal with me, and for that I can’t forgive him. :ouch: Rob

Wouldn’t Gingrich’s two previous marriages have to be annulled before he could be in full communion with the Church? I somehow doubt the Church would grant annulments given the information…
His two previous marriages were indeed annulled.

Since its two previous marriages were annulled by the Catholic Church his third married is sacramental and valid

Were they Catholic marriages? How does one “annul” a non-Catholic marriage? Don’t Catholics consider all other marriages to not be marriages at all, in the sacramental sense?

He never went around claiming people should not divorce. He never criticized Bill Clinton for have an extra-marital affair. If you are going to judge people at least judge them on the facts

The Church considers all marriages to be valid. That is what the annulment process is all about. As any person who was previously married that wants to he married in the Catholic Church he had to go through this process with his previous marriages. It doesn’t matter whether the previous marriages were Catholic marriages are not. The Church reviewed his previous marriages and determine no sacramental marriage exists which is why they allowed him to get married in the church and why he is in full communion and entitled to receive all our sacraments.

I suspect that even if Newt Gingrich was perfect morally in every way you still would not like him because you disagree with his politics. Better to just say so than to try to impugn his character

Didn’t say he did. My hypothetic scenario was for the poster, not a synopsis of Newt.

I don;t criticize Newt for divorce. I am explaining why he will never be elected by the heartland of America to be President of this country. It isn’t necessarily fair. But it is predictable.

No if you’re married in a Christian church it’s a valid marriage. By valid the Protestant church must have a valid Baptism and vows as far I know the Church does not recognize Jehovah Witnesses and LDS.

Thanks. I see now.

See above. I am summarizing what I predict to be the general response of the heart of America and the people who actually vote. I am making no personal judgment of his “moral character.” And please don’t suggest that I am being insincere in any way here. And I won’t do the same of your strong support of him. Newt would be a strong candidate. But he will never (I predict) win a nation-wide general election, partly for the very reasons I have given.

he is without a doubt the most qualified person in United States to be president. Whether he can be elected or not remains to be seen but I am much more confident in the tolerance of people of faith than most of his detractors are.

You mean that Catholics will cut him a break? Maybe so. But that is not heartland America. His behavior is a tough hurdle, not to mention the tenacity with which he went after people. All his harsh speaking will be re-broadcast, and in light of his private behavior, he will be sullied. He should run for senate or something, where the electorate will be smaller, more regionalized.

He would also make a great cabinet member, if he can subordinate himself and work for a boss.

I say if they can give mutable annulments to Teddy Kennedy everybody can get one.
