**All abuse is unacceptable!

i am a 53 year old man who was an altar boy & was NEVER ABUSED BY ANY PRIEST! God Bless the 97++++% of Catholic Priests who have given up everything to serve us & bring us the Most Blessed Sacrament, the Holy Eucharist!!!

Where is the responsibility for an 11 or 12 year old to report the abuse when it happened? Where is the protection for others? Why so cowardly until now???

"New Hampshire enacted a special statute of limitations for victims of childhood sexual abuse in 2005. Under the new rules, a victim must file their claim in court
Code:
* within 7 years of their 18th birthday, or
* within 3 years of the time the plaintiff discovers, or in the exercise of reasonable diligence should have discovered, the injury and its causal relationship to the act or omission complained of. N. H. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 508:4-g (2005)"
i’m sure NH has allowed the Catholic Church to be sued without any limitations, despite the self imposed limits on their own abuse!!

i want to sue Adam & Eve, anyone got an attorney without any scruples (high probability of being an oxymoron!) ?

my personal opinion is that a 54 year old man who waits until today to sue the Church for something in 1967 is ABUSING the system & the Church MERELY for $$$$. The truth is often unpopular & painful.

“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.” (Mt 5:7)**

Mark, I don’t know the NH law, but maybe the restriction is only applicable for criminal filings? (I am sure there is a statute of limitations for civil actions too but it may be different from the criminal SoL).

I am sure the plaintiffs will get a lot of sympathy in such a case, but it should be a really difficult case to prove against the diocese. Was the abuse reported to either the authorities or the diocese? How was the diocese suppose to know this priest was a danger and remove him if it wasn’t reported? How is the abuse suppose to be proven if the priest is deceased? This gentleman would have been 32(ish) in 1982 when the priest passed away. So there are many questions in such a case as well as a deficit of evidence (which is why SoLs were put in place to begin with) and not many answers yet.

Well, um, Mark-I’m 30, was an altar boy for many years, and I was never abused either. I agree with your that 99 percent of religious would NEVER EVEN THINK about harming a child.

I live in NH, and I haven’t heard alot about lawsuits against the church. There was a big settlement a few years ago that the state was involved in. No, I don’t know about every single lawsuit in NH history, so if I’m wrong and there has been more, fine.

But all that doesn’t matter to me. It’s easy for you and I, who have never been the victims of abuse (that I know of for you) to say, “Forgive and Forget!” and scream at them, “Mercy!”. Again, I’m not saying your wrong, just try to remember that.

For all we know, a 11 or 12 year old DID try and report it and was ignored or something-so, give it a break until we know the facts.

**exactly my point!

If this “innocent” 11 or 12 year old was abused, then God will provide His Infinite Mercy.

To file a lawsuit 30+ years later, in the hope of receiving $$$$$$$$$$$$$, would negate the reasonable argument of innocence & victimization that is so popular these days.

The whole message of Jesus Christ is based on PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, not victimization!**

Alright Mark, you lost me. If he was abused when he was 11 or 12, tried to report it and it went no where, than he is somehow responsible for it? He is not entitled to recourse? I admit I don’t know where in the WORLD your coming from.

And what is with the colored text? Your giving me a headache! 😉

(I’m kidding on the headache part! smile!)

No one is “entitled to recourse!” That is the lie society has brainwashed us with.

By your logic, Our Blessed Mother Mary should have received BILLIONS of $$$ for “PAIN & SUFFERING!”

We are all sinners & must rely on Jesus Christ, our Lord & Savior for Redemption!

Will $1,000,000 buy you Heaven? Will $1,000,000,000, $1,000,000,000,0000,000…, NO!

Is the bland text ok for you???

Relax my friend. Just trying to have some fun with the text comment.

I’m all for personal responsibility as well, even if that means taking accountability for your actions, like if you harm a child, you need to be brought to justice, and those who MIGHT (key word) have enabled it need to be brought to justice as well. If it was my child ( I don’t have kids) I would want it investigated and stopped. If it was your child (I have no idea if you have kids) you would too.

Try to remember that the guilty have the right to have their case known. And yes, they are entitled to recourse.

Yes, according to those who Crucified Jesus, recourse is owed?

According to Jesus, no recourse is owed!

"Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners." (MT 9:13)
