Be well, ChristianKnight, and may God walk with you and you
with Him. I do understand what you said in your opening post.

I did wish to note that - reading some of the posts, and some of the thread titles - has been a mercy - because these thoughts, and the *way these were expressed, finally brought me to understand - that I am not to think in terms of what I oppose, but rather in terms of what I believe about God. [Besides, much to my shame, I wrote a satirical post, recently, even when this was not called for. I was beginning to think in satire.]

I am grateful to God, that He can make everything better.

God bless you, ChristianKnight. http://bestsmileys.com/waving/5.gif

So if someone in the catholic church is worshipping the pope, they are not a part of it?

I’ll be back later, I have to go to church, talk to ya later.

btw: I am bringing up the catholic church in my youth group.
If someone is worshiping someone other than God, then you could really make an argument that they’re not Christian, let alone Catholic. At least their practices don’t reflect a Christian or Catholic point of view. And has ANY post you have come across on CAF indicated that a Catholic worships the Pope? I really doubt it.

And you keep bringing up that you’ve been disrespected, and yet you have refused to answer for the fact that you’ve disrespected us by misrepresenting our religion with accusations of “Pope worship.” That is not in the spirit of charity at all.

I have not personally leveled any attacks against you because of your faith, and I apologize for those who have, but their behavior does not justify publicly posting a dramatic goodbye thread with a derisive quip deliberately misrepresenting the Catholic faith.

If you have a problem with the attention Catholics pay to the Pope, I would be more than happy to engage with you in a civil debate with you on the topic. Unfortunately, it seems that you are doing exactly what you have accused (and your accusations may indeed be true) others of doing- that is, forsaking debate in exchange for simple disrespect against another person’s religion.

Peace be with you.

ChristianKnight,
You seem that you look for the truth, so please ignore people who disrespect because they may be ignorance their faith themselves.
I will pray for you that Holy spirit will guide you and you will find the truth. Nothing but the truth.
To be honest, I learn a lot of catholic faith here in CAF, you may go to Spiritual Forum which are many nice people, in my opinion, Non-Catholic religion forum is forum which many of disagreement, some insult others etc but you still can learn a lot, just ignore the ones who disrespect others.Religion is not the same as faith (as my opinion)

I did not lable all Catholics as Pope Worshippers, but if you think their are none in the Catholic Church then I think your just ignoring it.

I am leaving this place, I am debating at another forum, a “protestant” forum. I hope you have a good day, cause I am not (school restarting).

God be with you.

See, this is my only issue. Please show me a post on this forum which indicates that someone worships the Pope.

There are weirdos in every church. That does not make the following comment appropriate:
The True Church, to me, is Jesus Christ, sorry if I do not worship or bow to the pope like you guys, but I do not think even if Jesus is working through him that he has the right to think I should bow to him. I would bow to Jesus, but not any man, unless Jesus told me to.
No one has ever asked you to bow to the Pope. Once again, if you have an issue with Catholic attention to the Pope, I would be more than happy to discuss it in a theological sense, but “sorry if I don’t worship the pope like you guys” is an absolutely “dis-respectful” thing to say if you ask me.

But what do I know. I’m just a robot.

Peace.

God bless you on your journey. I pray that you find rest in God.

Please forgive me if I have offended you. Please forgive others who may mean well but act in an uncharitable manner. Please forgive those who are plain jerks.

Do not judge the Church’s claims by the acts of its members. Jesus had no choice but to let fallen humans into it.

God bless you on your journey. I hope you will come back
someday. If anyone has made you feel unwelcome then I
apologize for them. Please keep an open mind about the Catholic Church and keep reading information such as that on Catholic.com. 🙂

I’ll miss you, and I mean that.

I pray for you to follow Jesus into all truth.

ChristianKnight,
I hope that you don’t let the attitudes of a few force your from the board. The vast majority of the thousands of people on here, regardless of denomination, behave themselves, but there are always a few that take things personally or seek out an attack. I apologize for their actions. There is much to learn about Catholicism, Protestantism, Orthodoxy, non-Christian religions, history, and more, and this is a great resource. We would all love to see you stick around, and I’d be willing to discuss the faith with you personally, should you still wish to leave.

If you do decide to go, I will pray for you on your spiritual journey and wish you the best!

I hate to see you take off so soon. I was getting used to you.
I hope you learn a lot.
You did spend your time here on this one subforum instead of looking at Spirituality and the others, so that’s why you ran into so many debate threads on Catholics versus Protestants. It’s not the whole forum here.
:tiphat: 👋

Sir, PLEASE do not take anything I say as “personal” or as intended to be offensive, OK? Because its not meant to be.
I came here cause I was interested in Catholocism, and I was really close to converting to it (I probably would have if I had went to a RCIA like I wanted to), but I am just going to research through reading and talking to catholics I know.
If you are interested in Catholicism… By all means, continue to learn about the Catholic Church…Go to RCIA. If you had the desire to do so…it is because the Holy Spirit was moving you to do that.
The way it seems to me, you guys talk more about the pope then you do Jesus Christ, sorry if I see that as disturbing. I am willing to bet some Catholics do worship the pope, not all or even a quanitiy, but some I would think do, since he is glorified a lot.
No need to apologize, as I have seen nothing offensive in what you have said.

Please understand that maybe the reason there is more said about the Pope is because many of the people who come here as Catholics, myself included are strongly inclined to defend our faith…and that includes defending the Papal Office. We believe very strongly about this. It is a tenet of our faith. And the reason that you see it so much…is because in these forums that Office is so often challenged. You could be right that “some” Catholics do overdo it where the Pope is concerned…but I think that can be safely labeled “over-zealousness”. I have never worshiped the Pope…He is not God. He is the earthly leader of the Church, he is the Shepherd here on earth. He is a teacher. Again, he is not God.
I made my sig that because I am a heretic, if I do not follow the Catholic Church, right? That’s what I thought I was, if I am wrong, I apologize.
Actually…according to the dictionary, and even in my minds eye, you are not a “heretic”…because this is one of the definitions of heretic, and the only one that can apply:

**2. Roman Catholic Church. a baptized Roman Catholic who willfully and persistently rejects any article of faith. **

So, NO, you are not a “heretic”, because you are not a Baptized Catholic who has turned against the Church with heretical beliefs. Many people misunderstand some of the words that are “bandied” about…and what their actual import is.

To myself and many other Catholics…you are a "separated brethren… That’s it in a nutshell.

Allow me to apologize if ever I have said anything to offend you. My goal and purpose here in these forums is to defend my Church and Faith, not to offend. I know that I can be zealous, but I do try to vouchsafe my words in a proper manner.

Do not let the words or actions of the few distract you from what is most important.

Peace!!
