I cannot with some of the Catholics on this forum. It’s too much! I tried not to laugh out loud at work. Seriously, first y’all say we need to love and treat gays with respect. But as soon as a character on tv is gay, you have a freak out. Why? They are just gay, nobody said they’re having sex. Why assume this? Unless the couple is talking about sex, or being sexual, I see no issue. Considering this is a children’s show, that is probably not happening.

It is an attempt to place a same-sex relationship as the same as a relationship between a man and a woman.
It creates confusion for children (and adults for that matter) that gender does not matter (and the next step is probably the view that gender is just social construct and does not exist).
It is not because the characters are gay individually; it is because it is a thinly veiled attempt at legitimizing yet another one of the progressive movement’s agendas, including sexual promiscuity and licentiousness, “gender theory”, abortion on demand under the guise of “women’s health”.

Or perhaps, and I am thinking more likely, the show is trying to show a variety of families that exist today. That includes same-sex couples. I am pretty sure it’s possible to have a gay couple in a show without "shoving their agenda down our throats.
The Catholic Church welcomes gay people into the church (without promoting same-sex marriage). I think a cartoon can do the same. I think parents need to stop being afraid to talk to their children about gay couples, because their children are likely to encounter a gay person sooner than they might be “comfortable” talking about it.

Gay people are welcome in the Church. But the Church will not change moral teachings to accommodate secular ideals.
Gay people are sinners just like straight people. All are called to start a journey of holiness. For many/most, I suspect we will be finally detached from sin in purgatory.
That gays (and everyone else) are called to live a life of chastity is not “homophobia”. It is the necessary medicine to save your life. One has to take it the rest of their life.
Yes, parents should talk about gay couples/people because they are a reality in society — that if they engage in sexual activity or get “married”, they are acting outside of God’s moral law.
(And before you think I’m a homophobic straight person who cannot understand, I’m gay (or the phrase around here is “have same-sex attraction”).

Never even crossed my mind to call you or anyone else a homophobe, though it is still possible to say “homophobic” things as a gay person. Again, not something I would do.
I might be wrong, but I don’t believe I ever questioned the Churches teaching on same sex couples and how they are to live. I was specifically talking about Nickelodeon having a gay couple.

But “homophobia” is synonymous in progressive parlance with “does not support gay rights”. It no longer means “hatred or disdain of gays and lesbians”.
Yes, the Nick show is yet another example of how pervasive “alternative lifestyles” are becoming in society to the point that children are being exposed to it. The purpose is to acclimate them so that they will no longer find a reason to oppose “gay marriage”.

Being a sci fi fan I missed going to see the new Independence Day movie so I bought the book until the movie comes out on DVD…well…one of the scientists in the first movie is in the second movie…and is in a homosexual relationship…oh boy…why can’t Hollywood just make a movie without making a “lifestyle” statement…now it’s ruined the movie for me.

So, I’m progressive for being okay with a gay couple being portrayed in a cartoon? I’d hardly call that progressive. I’m aware of the way people choose to use the word homophobia, and I don’t use it that way, and rarely use it at all.

I get what you’re saying, but it is the parents that need to talk to their children, not the TV show. And it’s not a topic I would bring up with my own kids too soon because of the potential for confusion. I don’t look to children’s cartoon shows to be the impetus for discussing hot button social issues with my children.
Certainly, that’s true about many things just in general, not just about this issue. Which is why I don’t get the full gamut of cable channels nor let my children watch things indiscriminately.
