We named our babies nicknames that had to do with something around the time they were due.

Our first was expected around Halloween, so our nickname was “boo”,
Our second was in early February - so “groundhog”
Our third was expected around the time of my deceased father - who served a stint after WWII on a ship - so we nicknamed her “midway”.
we had a miscarriage that we nicknamed “firework” (for Jul)
Our final child, was due right around the beginning of Spring, so we nicknamed her “Slinky”.

my mother hated the nicknames - she always thought were going to name our child “Boo”. But it did help others keep track of when the due dates were.

I don’t like referring to unborn babies as ‘it’. Even when people say, “It’s a girl.” I try to say, “She’s a girl,” or “the baby is a girl”.

‘It’ sounds less than human to me.
I think “it” here is referring to the word “baby”… not the actual baby.

I called by daughter, rice baby. She was the size of a grain of rice when we had our first ultrasound.

My son was called mischief. Which he is.

During my 12th week I ate a packet of ‘tuc biscuits’ in jut a few minutes, so husband named the baby ‘Tuc tuc’

I’m 10 weeks right now and my husband and I have been calling the baby “peanut” because I had an ultrasound at 8 weeks to check on something and we thought the baby looked like a peanut:D

We used Peanut for my little Granddaughter…and she’s almost 9 months now and she is still Peanut to us.

That’s funny, my wife thought the image looked like a kidney bean. 😃

I’m in the very early days of pregnancy with baby #2, and we don’t like to find out the gender of our baby’s until they are born. However, we highly dislike calling baby ‘baby, it, he/she’ etc so last time we called our baby ‘monkey’ until he arrived (and my goodness it was perfect for him 🙂 )

We are looking for suggestions for nicknames to help us connect with this little one, and help would be extremely appreciated!
Congratulations!!

We actually looked through the baby names book, and chose two, because people were always asking us about names, it seemed. Hepzibeth and Penrod: two names we would never name our child. However, by the end of the pregnancy, the names started to grow on us! LOL But we chose regular names for our children.

Your name is F.O.T

turn it around to T.O.F

make it nicer and you have Toffee

Just a suggestion

Little Bunny Foo Foo, or Kung Fu Bunny, because she was always kicking vigorously on the ultrasound (and when I began to feel her, boy did I feel her).

It’s a shame that we haven’t a gender-neutral pronoun for human beings only; “it” does sound dehumanizing, though people used to refer to small children as “it” after birth. We defaulted to “she” for some reason, and a “she” is what we had! If we’re lucky enough to be blessed with another, maybe we’ll call this one “he” and see what happens…

Since it is your 2nd child, call your first “Thing 1” and the second “Thing 2” just like the Dr. Seuss characters. My sister and I are close in age and those nicknames have stuck our whole lives.

I’ve got into the habit of referring to unborn children as “bump”. You could always call her/him by your surname? Before the UK knew the sex of Prince George, he was referred to as baby Cambridge.

Sweet potato
Honey bee
Sweet pea
Charlie
Chuck
Lil one
Peanut butter
butter baby (if you feel round)
slim jim (if you feel particularly fit!)
…but I’m feeling Charlie for you as I type 👍

I ended up giving each one of my babies a nickname once they were born…
#1 was Yummy
#2 was Delicious
#3 was Scrumptious (aka scrump-delicious!)

don’t do the ‘Turn around thing’ as “TOF” stands for tetralogy of Fallot…a congenital heart defect… which I’d avoid at all costs (as I have a child with that heart defect ;)) but I LOVE TOFFEE! 👍 You could even say your 'Toffee bump!" How cute!
Ok…I need sleep…😃
Hope you get some better suggestions than mine!

Pax Christi!

I’m telling you, the best nickname is Snickerdoodle!

Try it!

God bless you and little Snickerdoodle!
