You said it, God is very patient. He has the capacity to love and be kind unconditionally. The one who understands failure, suffering and frailty.

Read again about the things foretold to befall mankind in Revelations. there is a limit to God’s patience. Western society is pushing it.

I am waiting for the denunciation of this man’s actions from leaders in the Muslim community, but have found none. My guess is we shall not hear of it, either.
Muslims leaders across America have denounced it.

“We condemn this cowardly attack in the strongest terms possible and ask that the perpetrators be punished to the full extent of the law. No political or religious ideology could ever justify or excuse such wanton and indiscriminate violence. The attack was particularly heinous in that it targeted the all-volunteer army that protects our nation. American Muslims stand with our fellow citizens in offering both prayers for the victims and sincere condolences to the families of those killed or injured.” (source)

“This unprovoked and unconscionable act of violence against American military personnel and civilians alike is utterly reprehensible, and against every tenet of faith and morality.” (source)

I always believe God will seek for ten good people before He unleashes His wrath. I sincerely believe that the plagues inflicting us are well under God’s control. For the sake of the Good Believers, He holds them back.

The Good Christians are the ones who hold the fabric of our societies. It is our religious duty to remain faithful in spite of all the irreverence surrounding us in our secular communities. Through the Good Christians, God shows compassion and love even to the heathen, irreligious, uncultured, and the uncivilized.

It’s our duty to be beacons of God’s light and good examples of the sacrifice of Christ.

Our societies exist through firm believers beliefs. The pious allah akbar people want it cease to exist.

Christians believe in a faithful and kind God while on the other hand muslim believe in a bigoted god.

This really makes sense:

Pious Christians — You Live

Pious muslim — You die

He said that and start implementing what Muhammed told him to do (and maybe thinking of the 72 virgins in paradise).

(Quran 47:4):
“Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; at length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah’s Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the way of Allah, He will never let their deeds be lost.”

(Quran 9:5):
“But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

(Quran 9:29):
“Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the Religion of Truth, from among the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued”

That guy was born in US, raised in US, even educated in US, however, I personally blame his Muslim clerics for brainwashing him by such verses above, and I also blame the secular world for their excess of freedom practices (e.g., public nudity, gay marriage, etc), I think both factors helped producing such a killer in the name of Allah. :dts:

I wonder where the murderer of President McKinley was born ? Detroit, apparently. That’s the Michigan Detroit BTW. And he was - how can one put this ? - not a Muslim, not an Arab, not a foreigner, but a US Catholic. And if the saying some are fond of is true, that “once a Catholic, always a Catholic”, the fact the murderer of Pres. McKinley had also become a Communist won’t have obliterated his Catholic origin.

Theodore Roosevelt was shot by a Catholic - and survived. I’m not up on RC murderers of US Presidents, but if most RCs in the US aren’t to be tarred with the same brush as those US RCs who go in for shooting at highly-placed politicians - by what reasoning can it be fair to complain of Islam or Muslims when a Muslim goes on a killing spree ? Most Muslims don’t make the headlines, for the same reasons as most Catholics, or most RCs, or most members of any other religious group - because they are not criminals.

The unfairness shown to Muslims on this forum really is disgusting - there are plenty of passages in the Bible, a book not unknown among Christians, that would condemn Christianity as a danger to society if they were quoted in the way the Koran is. Not that we ever anything about them from Christian opponengs of Islam - but the “nasty bits” in the Koran ? Plenty is said about them by Christians. How is that fair ?

Quran & Hadith.

I think each Muslim Imam should hear God’s Word, maybe if there is a law that requires each Imam to have at least one hour a month meeting with a Christian Priest then maybe that would do something to their hearts and stop the brainwashing.

If you want to restrict their freedom then you should also restrict the freedom of the secular world, for example create a law in the secular world that prohibits public nudity (from public ads, photos, etc) and on the other hand prohibit Islamic lessons in the Mosques (lessons should be only through authorized Islamic centres).

The logic of that position leads to…dhimmitude; or to other forms of second-class status in one’s own country. The Saudis dislike much the same things as you mention - they merely have a different religion. So they find open profession of Christianity in Saudi every bit as nauseating as you might find “public nudity (from public ads, photos, etc)”.

At least the satanic Western democracies allow Christianity as well as Islam and as well as secularism & as well as other beliefs - they are left to their cat-fights & squabbling, which they are free to engage in, within very broad limits which don’t favour one group over another: something theocracies (Christian or Jewish or Muslim or…) are not very good at. Righteous regimes of any religion, because they are always right, have a record of repressing others. So ISTM the Great & Little Satans are much better places to be.

Yes, if you go back in history, you can make any demographic look the way you want. Do you really not see the difference? We only have to look in this generation to see murder and terror in the name of jihad. These murders so far seem to be the work of one person, but many attacks have been coordinated by large groups of jihadists. There are no Catholic terror cells that are killing Muslims, but there are huge groups of terrorist dedicated to killing us.

What is wrong with this picture? A many goes off and kills a dozen people in the name of Allah. One would think it would be every one except Muslims that would need reassuring. Yet in the press it is the Muslims that are being reassured against retaliation.

Really now?! :hmmm:

Oh yes he was a peaceful man…from a “peaceful” religion:shrug:

Taquiyya straight from the horses mouth.

That could be a description of how those nefarious Romanists indulged in mental reservations to avoid telling the truth. The accusation is the same - the only difference is what was once an accusation against RCs by certain Protestantists, is now an accusation against Muslims by RCs.

It really is depressing to see how past victims become oppressors of others in their turn.

As for Christianity being a religion of love - at least Islam has no Shoah on its conscience: not like “Christian” Europe, with its 16 centuries of hating Jews, and its other crimes. So Christians are hardly in a position to throw stones at Muslims.

Yeah, it’s not like the Islamic Empire attempted to conquer the known world at one point or anything… oh wait.

As an excerpt from this article states:
Islam’s founder, Muhammad, was a warlord who rose from nothing to be the virtually undisputed master of the Arabian Peninsula. The holy book he produced is filled with commands to use violence in the service of its religion and nation. This potential for violence is similar to that possessed by Judaism except it is immensely augmented by the fact that Islam, like Christianity, sees itself as a pan-ethnic religion meant for all peoples in all countries. It therefore has been willing to employ violence on a massive scale, as illustrated by the first century of its existence, when the Islamic Empire exploded outward and conquered much of the known world of the time.

I don’t think Sam is blaming anyone for his personal sins or defending the things the imams are saying. He is explaining what is being said and what might have caused the shooter to behave as he did, not justifying it.

I think Islam is a false religion and in many ways evil. The imams are however, not entirely wrong. Western society is spun way out of control in the name of freedom. We have murdered many millions of innocent unborn. We can’t even figure out that men marry women. This is a holocaust, sanctioned by secular governments under the auspices of privacy or some other miscontrued misapplied notion, and proof of how confused we have become. God who is very patient will eventually tear down the evil house.

Killing everyone in the name of God is the wrong response, but evil is still evil. If you look at the visions presented in Revelations, God unleashes the four horseman of the apocalypse, because of man’s evil and refusal to repent. Is that tolerant?
http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon14.gif Well said grandfather.
Oh my bad… I was not really pertaining to Sam. I was relating my post to those religious muslims in general.
Sorry Sam I think you knew where I stand.
👍

That is certainly nothing more than your opinion and everyone is entitle to their prejudice I guess. Personally, I wasn’t alive in the Middle Ages, so I have no opinion. I do think your view of world history is skewed, at least consiidering how I learned it.

Anyhow, it is all irrelevant to the topic because this issue has arose to prominence in the lifetime of all here posting and is not a matter of history. We all remember the planes which brought down the two buildings and crashed into the Pentagon. We all remember of the hoards in the streets cheering the death of innocent Americans who died for no reason other than they got up and went to work. Most of us remember also the embassy bombings and the Marine Corps barracks bombings. For a religion of peace, Islam is spawning millions of people who thirst for the blood of those who do not hold to Islam. Hopefully you will notice the use of the present tense and your knowledge of grammar is not as big of a source of disagreement as your knowledge of history.

Gottle,

There are crimes committed by individuals from every religious and political background. Sometimes the motivation for those crimes are religious belief. If a Catohlic shot McKinley was it the tenets of his faith that motivated him?

It looks like Nidal was a sick man. He was a regular customer of a strip club. Islam does not condone that. He did apparently shout out Muslim slogans as he was shooting his fellow soldiers. Islam does condone that.

The incident, unlike the McKinley shooting is not isolated. All over the world there are bombs set off, suicide or otherwise, killing people indiscriminately, Christian, Jew and Muslim, by Muslims financed and supported by other Muslims, in the name of Islam or Allah.

The murders have happened in Indonesia, Thailand, India, Spain, Israel, Italy, Phillipines, Malaysia, Pakistan, Iraq, and just about everywhere Muslims happen to be. They are for the most part organized, not single demented people acting alone. In Sudan there has been a genocide of at least two million, carried out by Muslims. The Muslim leader of Iran has vowed to annihilate Israel and most Muslims in the world probably would like to see that happen. The mass mudererer of Locherbie went home to a hero’s welcome. At 9-11 there were celebrations in Muslim streets. The financing of 9-11 came from Saudi Arabia.

Jihad is a tenet of the religion. It comes from the very core of the religion. Mohamed called for it and Islam went to war and remained at war for many centuries to conquer the world for Allah until Lepanto and Vienna. They conquered all of the Christian world, but for Italy, France, Germany, England. They conquered all of Spain and Portugal and the Spaniards fought six centuries alone to drive them out. After the setbacks of Vienna and Lepanto they were unable to wage war for awhile and when Napoleon went with his army into Muslim lands it was clear advancements of military science of the west would make attacking the west impossilbe, but the religion did not change. The tenet of gaining the world by war remained and it is once again manifested in organized fashion.

Was the guy who shot McKinley incited into a religious fervor by priests who called for the killing? Was Hitler’s holocaust called for by Christian leaders and holy books?

The Taliban execute women for being literate. They are blowing up girls schools in Pakistan. They cut out their clitoruses. Girls are forced back into school dormitories on fire to perish, because they are in nightclothes.

All of these things whether acts of individuals or groups are done in the name of Islam. You can not accuse anyone of unfairly depicting Muslims for mentioning these things, or inciting hatred of Muslims. That is like saying someone hates homosexuals if they think the behavior is immoral. I think the Hindu and Shinto religions are false. If I did not I would join their religions. I don’t hate Hindus. I think Islam is a false religion. I hope for a miracle of conversion for them all, as happened at Guadalupe. MX. But saying Islam is a religion of peace is insane.

Christians from the very beginning of their history also want to take over the world. Their founder called for it. History shows, from the first apostles, the method is sending missionaries into non-Christian lands to try to convince people of the truth of their religion and convert them. Their missionaries are often rejected and martyred, and revered as martyrs. Their saints are miracle workers not warriors, other than a teenage girl martyred by fellow Christians.

At Fatima, a place of pilgrimage for Catholics and Muslims, Mary foretold WWII and the millions of deaths and horrendous destruction that it would bring. In Medjegorie, another private revelation, she is reported to have said there is a religious war coming that is inevitable. She appears in these places and others, crying over what men do in the world in their hardness of heart and refusal to turn from sin. I lament with her.

Really? President McKinley killed in 1901? 108 years ago? The murderer may have been born a catholic but if you think by any stretch of the imagination he was a practicing Catholic, you are very wrong. He was a practicing anarchist and had no interest in pursuing his religion. So right off the bat your example is full of flaws.
Now you go all the way back 97 years for another failed attempt at pointing out a “Catholic” assassin. Teddy Roosevelt’s assassin was again, born catholic but was not practicing. He was a self-described anarchist and when asked why he said “any man looking for a third term ought to be shot.” So it is obvious by the facts (an issue you seem to side step) their religion-or actually lack there of-had nothing to do with their motivation.

So you want to take two acts within the last 100 +/- years and try and compare them to the acts of radical islamists? Let me point out your ignorance
by what reasoning can it be fair to complain of Islam or Muslims when a Muslim goes on a killing spree ?
It is absolutely fair because islam is a religion with a wide-spread devout following of radicals that are bent on the complete annihilation of an entire race (would you like to be Jewish and move to Tehran?) islam is a religion of terror. islam is a religion where tens of thousands of practitioners are dead-set on killing all non-muslims and even those muslims who do not practice “their” version of islam. Would you like to be a cartoonist and draw a picture of mohammed? islam has a huge faction of radical terrorists that most imams do not condemn outside of token rhetoric. Where is the action by imams and muslims against the radicals? THERE IS NONE.
What is really disgusting is your weak attempt at muslim apologetics. You cite poor examples of “Catholics” who try and kill when their religion had nothing to do with their reasons. And even at that point you had to go back nearly 100 years to cite two. I can go back in the news 100 days and find countless examples of muslim terror worldwide. Can you do that for Catholics? Of course not. Show me the last time Catholics hijacked planes in the name of the Pope. Show me the last time Catholics captured a school and started killing children in the name of the Pope. You refuse to accept the fact that radical islam is out of control and that it is a religion of terror. Your abhorrent attempt to try and compare the Bible to the koran is laughable. Actions speak louder than words and the actions of radical muslims are screaming WE WILL KILL YOU ALL and when those words fall on deaf ears, you will be the first to fall to their sword. That is what is disgusting.

(note to grammer police. Lack of capitalization for many words was intended)

Thank you! I am glad to read those quotes! I feel a bit better.
No problem. There are Muslim-American groups that condemn terrorists and violence every day, it’s just that because they don’t make it to the 5-o’clock news or get on the front page of the paper, people assume they don’t exist.
Theodore Roosevelt was shot by a Catholic…
Ah, the tu quoque fallacy…

Those groups that you mention do not have power in Islam. The groups that work on either the stealth Jihad, or the outright Jihad of violence, do have their books to back them up they have the power of the violent and radical ones that support them with the Muslim charities too.

The Muslim Charities support many of the groups such as CAIR, MPAC, MSA, Hamas, Hezbollah and too many others to mention. And we hear these groups denounce the act of this Major while they fund violence (CAIR) or support it with their taqiyya.

And we are more than likely not to hear this sort of thing on the 5 o’clock news. There are more comments and articles like this one that has the video and we just let the 5 o’clock news and political correctness blind us to the war that Islam has declared on us. If people go to thereligionofpeace.com and especially read their article about the numbers they report people would realize that the numbers are underreported by thereligionofpeace.com

Over 14350 Islamic terrorist attacks since 9/11.

The Ft Hood shooting was an attack by a Muslim for his god and an outright show of war on the side of Islam. What this Muslim did was exactly what was instructed by him to do in the Koran, and Sharia laws.
  1. Jihad is the highest form of devotion to Allah and Mohammed.
  2. Those who do jihad go to Islamic heaven.
  3. There are three kinds of jihad: by the sword, by the tongue, and with money.
  4. Those who do not participate in jihad or refuse to assist those who do (if they themselves cannot participate) are hypocrites, a very bad thing in Islam (as bad as unbelief).
  5. Dying in jihad means you do not get judged for your life, you go right on through to the 72 virgins and the sexual “paradise” that is Islamic heaven, with houris and boys with pearly skin, etc.
  6. Allah commands all adherents to do jihad, no exceptions. After all, Allah knows what is best, and adherents don’t.
The Major seems to have messed up his martyrdom and will miss out on his houris and little boys for now.

Sadly, you are right on all accounts.

What we should be of some consolation is that this guy was too messed up in the head to really do damage. He could have carried a home-made explosive into that building without any trouble, either.

I think he was disturbed in the head, wanted out of the army, and saw a chance to be a hero to other nuts and to get his name down for Islamic jihadists.
