What horrible news to hear on a Sunday. :crying:

All the dead are now martyrs for the faith. " Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace." :gopray:

God bless

how horrible. I just don’t understand how people can do such a thing… such evil…

i believe there were 3 church bombings in northern nigeria and now the death toll is up to 36.

guess I should turn on the news sometime today… do they know who is doing it?
there might be someone who will disagree with me, but i think it is the Muslims.
not sure if they are trying to drive the Christians to the southern part of Nigeria. i had read up on it about a month ago, but don’t remember the facts clearly. maybe someone with more knowledge can answer.
we have a Nigerian priest at our parish. he has been back to visit his mother twice in the past year. every time i hear of a church being bombed i pray that his mother is safe.

Meanwhile, the consensus media will never even try to report it, while the Occupy Vatican movement is probably cheering for it.

Given Kaduna’s recent history of Muslim-Christian violence, this seems likely. Certainly many of the local Christians believe so, which is why reprisal attacks started to take place before the curfew was imposed.

The question becomes one of which Muslims are responsible. The organization called Boko Haram gets a lot of attention, but I suspect there are other militant organizations as well.

Here is a news article with a few more details. It seems all three attacks were suicide car bombings

And the Christian murders were followed by reprisal attacks resulting in 3 muslim dead, thus continuing the cycle. . . .

Lord have mercy on them and on us.

i believe i saw that the terrorist organization Boko Haram did claim responsibility. on a previous thread, someone mentioned they were afraid another attack would take place because right after the last attack happened, the passenger plane crashed in Nigeria and there was more publicity about the plance crash than the terrorist attack. the poster said they would probably do another attack. he was correct.

Yes, that was astute reasoning. And you are also correct that Boko Haram claimed credit for this past Sunday’s church bombings.

Boko Haram has been trying to ignite a sustained religious war in Nigeria. So far, authorities have been able to limit the reprisals and keep the flames from feeding themselves. But the incidents of religious violence keep coming. 😦

i hadn’t heard that there were reprisal attacks. however, what are they expected to do?
continue to do nothing while their churches are bombed and people killed every week or so?
The situation is grim, I agree. And the impulse to strike back is human. But in striking back, the perpetrators of the initial attacks are not targeted. Instead, innocent people are killed simply because of their religion. And that is exactly what Boko Haram wants.

i do not know much about Boko Haram, but i am sure they don’t care about more innocent lives lost in the reprisals. these terrorist groups are heartless!

You nailed it. The cycle continues. It happens in the Middle East. It happened in Serbia. It happened in Northern Ireland. I hapens in Sri Lanka. It happens between India and Pakastan. It will continue until something different happens. Men don’t have the answer with their passions and their revenge- stoking the fires of war. Only God in His love has the answer.
