NIGERIAN MARTYRDOM CONTINUES

by Paul Murano • ChurchMilitant.com • December 20, 2019

West largely ignores Muslim attacks on Christians

ABUJA, Nigeria (ChurchMilitant.com) - While the Western world has heard of the atrocities occurring in Nigeria, one Frenchman, frustrated with the inaction, decided to do something about it.

Bernard-Henri Lévy, influential philosopher, recently took a trip to the African country and documented what he saw. At the beginning of December, the author published a lengthy report noting the massacre of Christians in the south by the Fulanis, an ethnic group from the north whose population is 90% Muslim. With his story he hopes to raise awareness and draw public attention to the beginnings of what he fears to be an ethnic cleansing. He believes the injustices have been met with indifference by most Western observers. . . .

. . . After hearing from Nigerians themselves in the midst of their difficulties, he searched for more information. “The feeling [I got] that the world, governments, international organizations, are deaf,” he said, finally gave him the motivation to act.

Now Lévy is speaking on behalf of Christians living in the territory. “Will history be repeated in Nigeria?” Lévy asks, referring to the Rwandan genocide of 1994.
Will we wait, as usual, for the disaster to be consumed in order to be moved? And will we remain idly by while Islamists internationally, contained in Asia, who fought in Europe, and have been defeated in Syria and Iraq, open a new front on this immense land where the sons of Abraham co-existed for a long time? This is what is at stake . . .
. . . The bishop said the attacks appear more and more to be a “methodical ethnic and religious cleansing.”

“Before we can barricade or flee, they are in [our] houses, machining, running towards the cries at night, looking for pregnant women, burning, looting, raping,” . . .

The response to these atrocities is indeed disgraceful. I have some personal knowledge of this area and the Christians are suffering terribly. Unfortunately this matter does not fit the current narrative of the secular media and culture in the West, so the matter is quietly hidden from view. Similarly the Church hierarchy remains tight lipped and the people are left to Sharia`s tender mercies, as it has its sights set on Abu Dhabi 2022:

I have a friend from Abuju who is always telling me that it is not like we read in the news. I just looked up the numbers, and the murder rate in Nigeria is a little less that half that of the United States, and less than that of Africa. Perhaps there isn’t a big response because the problem there is not as great as it is in so much more of the world.

What is “so much more in the world”?

Christian murder, suffering, rape, and persecution of Christians by non-Christians?

Or just everyday news stories (are so much more important in your opinion)?

Or something else?

I was speaking of murder in general. I have never cared for the idea that hate crimes or worse than the same other crime committed without hatred toward a group. Murder is equally heinous whether it is the group or individual whose life is seen as worthless.

They don’t see them as “worthless”.

They are killing them off because
these Christians refuse to renounce Jesus Christ.

Truth. “Hate crime” bears with it the insinuation of a thought crime, which makes me very nervous in a supposedly free society.

As there hasn’t been a Holy Roman Emperor since Napoleon deposed the last one, there hasn’t been anyone tasked with leading their nation to war in defense of Christians regardless of national boundaries (and the previous ones didn’t take that charge particularly seriously when they did exist).

As such, it seems a very tragic Nigerian problem in a world full of problems.

So “pretty low on the world news radar and thus it really deserves to be a proverbial non-story” . . . is that what you are insinuating here Hume?

I’m insinuating that people are dying on a substantial scale all over the world and this is merely one of, unfortunately, thousands of those examples.

For example, how many died in Syria this last year?

Incidentally, 400 Iraqi protesters have been killed by Iraqi security forces during anti-government protests in the past months. Just thought I can raise some awareness.

Just thought I can raise some awareness.
So you are saying the media does not cover POLITICALLY motivated deaths too?

Or just that Nigeria isn’t a big issue just like Syria?

Or something else?

What’s your point?

I think it’s no more important than the mass killings of other people occurring all over the globe.

Is this a problem?

Go back and read the original story and see if you cannot figure out what the “problem” is.

Oh, these unforunate dead “count more” because they’re Christians???

Good grief.

Appears they “count less” because they’re Christians.

That’s part of the whole point of the article Hume.

They only count less to folks who want to whip up an angry religious fervor.

Shame on them for their intentions and actions.

Hume on ignoring Christian victimization (murder, rape, and pillage against Christians because they are Christians) to a certain extent . . .
They only count less to folks who want to whip up an angry religious fervor.
No they don’t.

It’s the other way around with secularists and their religion of secular humanism. At least that’s my opinion.
Shame on them for their intentions and actions.
That’s exactly what I was thinking . . . About downplaying the murder, rape, and pillage against Christians.

Thankfully Bernard-Henri Lévy is attempting to change this.

“In Nigeria, we massacre Christians”, the SOS of Bernard-Henri Lévy

Paris Match | Posted on 12/05/2019 at 7:00 a.m.

From our special envoy to Nigeria, Bernard-Henri Lévy

In the richest country in Africa, the Fulani, Muslim shepherds in the North, attack Christian peasants in the South. Everything is in place for ethnic cleansing. The philosopher went to investigate on the spot.

I went to Godogodo, Kaduna State, in the center, where I filmed the testimony of a young evangelist, Jumai Victor, very beautiful, who is missing an arm - but she has a way of holding herself, a little at an angle, which means that we do not notice it right away. It was July 15, she said. The Fulanis tumbled, at night, on long saddle motorcycles, three by motorbike, shouting “Allahou akbar!” ". They burned the houses. Killed his four children before his eyes. And, when her turn came and they saw that she was pregnant, a discussion started: some people did not want to see the event and we just cut her arm, with a machete, like the butchery - first the fingers; then the hand; then the forearm; and then the rest, when the last of the group complained that he had not had his share. She told very quickly, without anger, eyes elsewhere, it looks like she lost her face and her arm. . . .

. . . The mutilated corpses of women. This dumb man who is asked to renounce his faith and who is cut out with a machete to extract at least one cry from him. This little girl strangled with the chain of her cross. This other, smashed against a tree, at the entrance of her hamlet. And, each time, this banality of an evil which they themselves do not understand how he was able to take hold of herdsmen who are, after all, also damned of this earth: the call of mosques radicalized by the Muslim Brotherhood and which are multiplying in the exact measure that the churches are burning? Ancestral Fulani supremacism white-hot by bad shepherds? Or is it just the savagery of men who only want to resurface when the evil spells are waved under their noses? . . .
