No. Black Lives Matter Is Not Trying to Destroy Your Nuclear Family

What is a Catholic’s dog in the fight of wanting to convince everyone BLM doesn’t believe what they clearly believe? Usually that is spelled “ulterior motive” to me.

I didn’t start this thread. When I see posters go out their way to repeatedly defend why an organization,
I have never defended the inconsequential organization blacklivesmatter.org.
With your 22,000+ posts, you clearly like getting the last word in - and nobody ceded you that right across the board.
Nor do I claim that right just because I post a lot. But let’s discuss the issues and not each other.

Let’s face it, Leaf: Who we are - including our experiences; our attitudes; and what we do - is very insightful as to our perspective on the issues, and whether others ought to engage us and how we do so. That is particularly true since this board sees many posts from children; those with mental health issues; etc. You want to “stick to the issues”? Who we are usually is the central issue in why we believe as we do!

So now BLM is “inconsequential?” BLM is responsible for the most costly (un)civil disturbance in US history - filled with deaths; thousands of buildings looted and burned; millions of dollars in merchandise stolen – and you say the organization behind it is “inconsequential?” Sorry, you’re wrong.

Perhaps you do not remember when the moderators used to tell people all the time “Discuss the issues, not each other.”

BLM, the organization, it inconsequential to both the riots and the peaceful protests, certainly as far as these goals about the nuclear family.

I guess you were not around during the 1967/1968 unrest. I was. I remember. Compared to that, this is small stuff.

I didn’t realize you were evaluating unrest solely in terms of the financial loss. I would think loss of life is the more relevant measure.

I certainly don’t think it’s exactly a badge of honor for the rioters that the 2020 riots only caused half the deaths - particularly since most of those deaths were caused by the rioters, rather than police.

To me, the only reason there weren’t far more deaths is because the police heroically did not open fire on the animals who assaulted them nationwide. Most were likely ordered to stand down (although I have no evidence of this). Police were confronted with people hurling bricks and molotov cocktails; spitting at them (during a pandemic!), hurling bottled filled with ice; and generally instigating violence against them - which would have fueled more rioting had it occurred. So you can thank the police for not shooting the rioters, for the lack of deaths.

I never said the rioters were worthy of any badge of honor, or indeed of any defense. What the rioters did was very wrong. I just disputed that the rioters and the Black Lives Matter movement are one in the same thing.

That is the problem with not having any leaders. They can pretend on their website that they advocate for non-violent civil disobedience, but when the rubber hits the road, there is no authority figure to stop the hordes from rioting in the streets.

It is not the responsibility of the thousands of peaceful protesters to stop any riots that they did not start.

Exactly: no leaders, no responsibility.

I don’t know if #BLM is more Marxist or anarchist. They are certainly friends with the Occupy Wall Street types.

At this stage, there are no “peaceful protesters.” It’s a myth.

Why not? Because the riots, looting, mayhem and destruction caused by BLM are so well-documented and widespread that anyone and everyone showing up at a BLM event or alleged “protest” does so knowing that a riot will predictably break out. Go to a BLM event? You’re fueling a riot. If I were a “peaceful protester” I’d stay home - my mere presence emboldens the rioters to do their thing…

I can essentially guarantee you that no BLM events means no riots.

Just as with VonDerTann, you are making the mistake of conflating anyone remotely associated the term “BLM” as all the same thing.

And you are making the mistake of saying “BLM and the rioters are not the same.”

I also note that I cited 3 separate articles, all of which showed BLMers rioting. I could post a dozen more, but I suspect they wouldn’t matter to you. And if facts don’t matter to you, do you think people ought pay attention to your posts?

Patently untrue. There have been peaceful protests and there have been violent ones. The comparison of the number of people involved in each group will show that the peaceful protesters we saw in May and June vastly outnumber the people doing violence.

You would lose that bet. Those that riot were not doing so because the organization told them too. They rioted because they wanted to, and they would want to whether there were peaceful protests or not.

That’s because they are not. How many of the peaceful protesters can you identify as having engaged in violence?

The number of articles about violence you can post is not a reliable way of gauging how many of the protesters were violent.

So it’s like nailing Jell-O to the wall.
I see a pattern here.

Any time a person says something pejorative or unflattering about #BLM, someone jumps in and says “They’re all different! Don’t lump them together!” and that’s operative whenever we say they’re Marxist, or violent rioters, or queer, or anti-family, what have you.

Then if you say something nice about #BLM like “no, they are not trying to destroy your nuclear family” you get a free pass, and nobody will breathe a word about them being all different or impossible to identify their agendas.

It’s really quite tiresome to watch everyone get this treatment.

Yes, Anesti, for the reason I identify: For some folks, facts really don’t matter, and the ends justify the means. I could quote a million facts/statistics, and Leaf wouldn’t change his opinion.

I don’t get frustrated (I expect Leaf won’t change his mind, that’s a given), but people like you see it and recognize it. Just as a good judge talks to his/her fellow judges by asking questions of the lawyers so the other judges hear the responses, I just keep telling the Leafs how they’re wrong and watch them change the subject - because lurkers see it and recognize what’s going on.
