No Catholic Church jobs so...

For all you wondering I have my BA in Theology. I have no money to go for my Masters and I really feel job experience will help me excel in the Masters program. I knw a lot of people think I shlould go for my masters but I just can’t do that right now.

If you could put a word in for me while your at it. I would appreciate it. I’m undecided as to whether to return this upcoming school year to what was supposed to be an emergency fill-in position.

I just saw this but add me! And for Lutheranteach too. Actually lets just all pray for one another for whatever needs we each might have. The Apostle James told us to pray for one another afterall! Peace.
 
I’m a teacher gettin’ furloughed. Pray for me too, eesh! 😦

have you considered becoming a chaplain in the military? depending on your degree, you could come in as an officer. the pay isnt bad, and neither is the work. we always need good Catholic chaplains. and you dont have to carry a weapon. will be praying for you situation. been where your at, minus the educational background and it can be really tough. Peace and prayers that the Lord opens a door for you very soon. :signofcross::hug1:
 
my apologies. just a sidenote. i cant tell if you are male or female by your name. or how far you have gone in your studies. we also have Chaplain assistance in the Military. also a very good job. i would have gotten it myself if it would have been open at the time. but, for that you Will have to carry a weapon… your also the Chaplains bodyguard. doesnt matter if your male or female though. we have both. might be worth checking out. I’ll survive, man. We’re only taking a net 1.75% pay cut and our salary schedule is all going down. Some insurance areas are going up as well. It’s livable. Problem is I have a wife and three little kids and I’m the sole bread-winner until Kate is done with the nursing RN program. When she’s out and nursing we’ll be pulling down $130,000 easily combined. Right now we’re BBBBBARELY getting by LOL…I feel like Oliver, “can I have summoh please suh?” LOL I’m kidding it’s not that bad.

You’re in a high-risk, physically and emotionally demanding place, benedict, so my ‘troubles’ are a total joke, man, next to the serious nature of your work. God bless YOU! You’re doing the job that protects and preserves us all. I admire it A LOT.

I am not surprised to learn that you stopped going because you were offended by something the priest said.

Actually, it is very good advice. One of the reasons for high unemployment is that people are narrow minded about work. they don’t like to take work out of their field, and don’t like to be paid less than they are worth. It is really hard to survive on part time work, too, and some people wont’ even try it.

When a person can’t find a paid position, it is always advisable to volunteer, even if it is only a few hours a week while they continue looking for paid work. Jesus said “give, and it shall be given unto you”, so one of the best ways to get our needs met is to give ourselves a way. Volunteer work also helps fill in holes in the resume, and allows people to gain expereince. As Jesus said, “the poor you will always have with you”, and due to that fact, there is always volunteer work that needs to be done.

No Guan, you shouldn’t be surprised when I believe a priest’s answer to the poor offends Jesus (see Matt 25:35-46 for more of His answers), that I would leave. Peace.

Is this what Jesus instructed us to do when our brother did something against us, or that we think is wrong?

I have been praying about your situation, Patty. It sounds like you have a Bachelor degree in Theology. Where did you graduate?

Parishes, as well as other Catholic ministries are as much concerned with spiritual formation as with academic. If your academic preparation was not done in a Catholic school, that might give one pause. However, this is not a deterrant, so long as the applicant has a strong spiritual formation in the Catholic faith. The diocese where I live has formation classes for lay ministers. If yours has these, I encourage you to participate in them. You might also consider a long retreat in a convent or spiritual community that offers these opportunities to withdraw from the world and focus only on spiritual needs for a time. We have several of them near where I live.

I’m just a lowly member of the flock, Guan, for me to be correcting a shepherd. I’m not as Paul having to had correct Peter. And knowing this shepherd, I doubt he would take too kindly to me doing so. But Jesus did say by their fruits I would them. Peace brother.

Take responsibility CMatt. It is your job to go tell people how you feel. He can’t read your mind. You may have robbed him of a gift, by letting him know how he came across. Instead, your ran away.

And yet, you can sit back, and without trying to support or even talk to a priest, take pot shots at them when they fall into sin. if you are a member of the flock, then you will stick with the flock, instead of flocking elsewhere!

Hum. Could you work in a hospital as a social worker or chaplain of some sort? just thinking off the top of my head.

When our hospital was Catholic, I do recall a female chaplain-think she was a lay person, not sure…she would pray with the patients and give them communion. Now I know this b/c she’d always stop me and ask who could get communion (who was able to have food and drink, I mean. I’m a respiratory therapist.)

I bet that would be a rewarding job…dk about the salary, though…
