An acquaintance of mine on Facebook posted this on her wall today, apparently a quote said by Dr. Seuss: “A person’s a person, no matter how small.”
I’m not sure if that really is a quote said by Dr. Seuss (it does sound like something he would definitely say in his books though) but it got me thinking about the issue of abortion. A person is a person no matter what embryonic stage he/she is in while in the mother’s womb. I suppose this could be true in another real sense as well (at least the first part of the quote): I know on March 21 was World Down Syndrome Day and I can’t believe the inhumane and disgusting comments I see made by people against those with DS or other disabilities (“just abort them”). Do we really want these misguided people making such decisions for that? Not to mention, it’s completely inappropriate to tell people that they don’t deserve to live and should have been murdered.
I do fear for our future.
