Italian Bishop Mariano Crociata has criticized Sunday sermons are boring, uninspired and unpalatable fare and urged priests to pay more attention to their homilies, acknowledging that the minds of churchgoers need to be nourished.

Can’t disagree, although of course we should also cut our priests some slack when they can’t be in top form every week…

I say we encourage more homilies teaching history and apologetics. And say what you will about threaths of the firey damnation of hell, but they’ll keep the audience interested. 😛

Our faith is divisive on many topics with those who are liberal minded. Strong, firm preaching is better than some palatable lukewarm compromises anyday.

I agree. i think that priests should be teaching the Faith. and he also should be telling the Catholics what the pope is saying. in my Parish, people fall sleep. every sunday is the same thing. dont get me wrong i love all priests and have great reverence for them and i am greatfull that they have become priests for God.

I love the sermons of the father Pacwa. he always explains the passage of the Bible. why it was said, to whom it was said and why. it is so enlightening when he preaches. i just love to hear him preach, i learn so much about God and His Word.

I had to give up good preaching when I left the Baptists and became Catholic.

Then Father Patrick became pastor of Sacred Heart…and we have great preaching again!

Thank you, Lord!
