I was excited to hear of Fr. Jenkins’ election, even though I knew I would not be able to enjoy what I suspected might be the fruits of it (adherence to Catholicism and less toleration of dissent and immorality). Having graduated in May, I never really got a chance to see the man in action. I was, to be honest, pretty disappointed when Notre Dame was in the news again last fall because of its scheduling of yet another queer film festival, because I thought my hopes must have been ill-founded. Now maybe they are not. I suppose I’ll have to try to keep on top of things now.
