You would hate my house. It’s set at 62 during the day. 58 at night.
I broke up with a man because he kept his house too cold. I just could not go over there to watch TV, play music, etc. and be freezing. His house would be colder than the outside air! Without air-conditioning! He had heavy draperies that he kept closed all the time to keep the sun out, and he had a lot of insulation against the heat. I’ve sat outside in 100 F. weather and been comfortable, so his house was not the place for me! I would sit on the sofa wrapped in a blanket to watch a movie on TV with him.
You get used to it. I would like it to be warmer but it’s simply not feasible financially. It already costs something in the ballpark of $600-$1000 a year to heat a well-insulated home.

I can’t stand being cold. We keep our thermostat set at 68.

I would be more bothered by the closed drapes, lol! Let the sunshine in! ☀️
Yeah, I second this. It’s colder in the house because I pull back the insulated drapes and the windows are leaky. But I can’t stand it being dark. I’d rather it be cold than dark.

I have a relative in central Ohio who has electric bills of about that each month in the winter! Luckily, he has a terrific job!

Electric goes up also, but we heat with home heating oil, so that takes the brunt of it. Electric goes from about $50-60 a month to $80 during the winter. However, that is partly because I bake more and during the summer I use the grill.

Where I live, everything is high priced, but I don’t use air-conditioning in the summer unless it gets to 90 F. It’s not humid here, and I like the doors open. This house has a LOT of glass, so it’s like bringing the outside in anyway, and the view is terrific.

I hope you came out of it ok TigerLily?
Thank you for asking! We’re fine!

Even though it snowed yesterday for over 12 hours, my township received less snow than others in our area (only about 6 inches) and we had none of the bad winds that were predicted, so we missed out on all the downed trees and power outages that others are dealing with.

Our neighbor came at 5:30 am this morning  and shoveled our walkway and driveway, the township did an outstanding job plowing the streets and all’s well! After 2 days in the house, I was stir crazy and have been out and about shopping today.
