Jesus tells the thief hanging on a cross next to Him in Luke 23:43 “Today you will be with me in Paradise.” Enough said.
Note: “Paradise” is not heaven.

**And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in paradise (Luke 23:42-43)**

The thief asked Jesus a specific question “remember me when you come into your kingdom (heaven)” if Jesus had said “today you will be with me in Hades” then he wouldn’t have even addressed the thief’s question.

That is not quite accurate. Jesus, being part of the Trinity and fully God, was and is everywhere, including heaven. Yet, we ask, how could that be if He was fully human and here physically on earth at the time? Quite the conundrum for our little brains…or is it? 🙂
As Thomas Aquinas put it…“The heavenly Word proceeding forth, yet leaving not His Fathers side.”

In Christ…

Go to www.newadvent.org and look up “particular judgement” and “general judgement”.

The “new heavens and new earth” will be after the general judgement, but until then, “souls that are perfectly pure are at once admitted to the beatific vision of the Godhead”. This is not the same as what will be experienced after the general judgement. For a fun look at this, check out “Travel Guide to Heaven”. It is theological speculation, but fun to consider.

Jesus himself wasn’t in heaven for another three days.
ok,.there are people who read the bible,…and decide its an intresting tale and either thru lack of evidence or common sense realize its not for them,…then there are people who read the bible,.get touched by it on some level.and devote themselves to god…then there are those who’ve never read the bible, but believe because they were raised too,…inherited religion…and theres nothing wrong with that,.except for like now…because the whole “Jesus himself wasn’t in heaven for another three days” is simply something you heard and regurgitated…i say that because if you had read the bible youd know that Jesus ascended 10 days before Pentecost and that He was crucified during the Passover. So, that would mean he was on earth approximately 40 days before His ascension…i dont mean to mock you at all,.i just think its kind of ironic that most atheists know the bible better than the devout…

Really??? On the day of His resurrection Jesus tells Mary not to touch Him. Why? Jesus says it is because He had not yet risen to the Father. Yet Jesus tells Thomas to touch Him just one week later and that is far short of your forty day theory. So what changed between when Mary saw Jesus and when Thomas saw Him? Apparently, going by what Jesus said, He had risen to the Father.

When people die and they are in purgatory, do they go into heaven after they serve their “time”? Or are they all to stay there into the day of judgement? I always thought that you can be in heaven depending on how you live your life and after you spend time in being perfected. A bible christian said that no one can be in heaven into the day of judgement and wanted me to back up my beliefs in the scripture.

As to the saints, I being accused of praying to the dead and bring evil upon my self even if it is just asking to pray to the saints to ask Jesus for my prayers requests.
Ask your ‘bible christian’ to explain why Rev 7 tells us that there is a great multitude in heaven but the ‘day of judgement’ doesn’t occur until Rev 20. Here are the verses:

Rev 7:9-14 [RSV]

"9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no man could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,
10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb!”
11 And all the angels stood round the throne and round the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,
12 saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God for ever and ever! Amen.”

13 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and whence have they come?”
14 I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”

Rev 20:11-15 [RSV]

“11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who sat upon it; from his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them.
12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, by what they had done.
13 And the sea gave up the dead in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead in them, and all were judged by what they had done.
14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire;
15 and if any one’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”

He is confusing the general judgment with the particular or individual judgement. The general judgement does not occur until after the thousand year reign of Christ. The particular judgment occurs at physical death.

If you read it like a tale and take it as a tale, that’s all you are going to get out of it . There are some who read it on their own, interpret it on their own, thinking they are smart enough to figure it out all by themselves without the help of those who have gone before them. Unfortunately, common sense is not that common. Self pride is common.

I think it ironic those who don’t believe it, don’t practice it, claims to know the religion better than those who do.
