No Plans To Discipline Pelosi, Says Washington Archbishop

You know, depending on when I read something like this, you are likely to get varying degrees of vehemence in my answer, but as I am trying to adopt a more peaceful outlook right now, all I can say is that we live in an age where we have a lot of leaders that are afraid to actually take a stand and lead.

All we can really do is to respectfully point out to our leaders that we do want them to take a stand and to make hard decisions. I know that no church official wants to be “the one” that pushes the wrong politicians buttons and causes the “lets revoke their tax exempt status” firestorm, but if that is what needs to happen to take a stand, then it may have to happen. It won’t be right, but it will illustrate the point.

I’m sure something like this is very difficult to do, since I imagine one of the first thoughts that you must have in this situation is “what about all of the good that I could do with the money that will be taken in taxes.” Then again, how much different is keeping silent on political issues that are also moral issues, compared to taking money from special interests to look the other way?

As I said above, we can voice our opinions, as respectfully as possible, and we can pray, and then all we can really do is trust God to let his plan for us and this world unfold. Its not easy to do sometimes, and I can post much more calmly than I speak on this topic in day to day life, trust me . . . 😃

Do we have the right to ask the archbishop what his reasoning is behind his decision?

I think we are letting him get by pretty easy with just “that’s not my style”.

Nancy Pelosi made the sign of the cross when she was sworn in and calls attention to the fact that she is a Catholic who attends Mass and receives communion regularly. Yet, unless I am mistaken, she has refused to offer almost-born human beings any legal protection against partial-birth abortion (infanticide) when she had the opportunity to do so, as well as made many other profoundly misguided and immoral choices with the legislative power that has been entrusted to her. It does not seem that she has repented of any of these positions.

There’s a huge contradiction there, and it causes confusion and I think scandal to faithful Catholics.

Perhaps she has shared her reasoning with Archbishop Wuerl. And perhaps he should share that reasoning, and the reasoning behind why she is still receiving communion unhindered while continuing to be part of a murderous coalition.

I think she is very misguided and perhaps if her reasoning was made public we could help her see the contradiction in her positions …

Basically I guess I would like more information. Are we allowed to ask an archbishop for more information?

We have some very cowardly Bishops!

Here we go with the old, “pray for them”, " teach them how wrong they are" (murder???), touchy, feely, Kumbaya stuff from the sixties.

While all are praying for these abortion enablers we are walking up to the Communion Rail alongside abortionists. Do you think this would have been tolerated back in the forties if say an Adolph Hitler decided to walk up to the Communion Rail?

Let’s wake up!

I’m a Catholic and I never knew that the Catholic Church used the Sacrament of Communion as a form of discipine.

Do you know what Sacrilege is?

As info:

Many manuals on moral and sacramental theology confirm that “Unworthy treatment of the Eucharist is the worst of sacrileges….”[8] “They who make a sacrilegious Communion,” writes St. Cyril, “receive satan and Jesus Christ into their hearts—satan, that they may let him rule, and Jesus Christ, that they may offer Him in sacrifice as a Victim to satan.”

Perhaps you don’t recognize abortion as a violation of human rights.

Perhaps we leave the decision to receive Eucharist between the communicant and God.

No, I think this is about Catholics who use the Sacrament of Communion for show. As for the Church using the Sacraments for discipline, that’s exactly what excommunication does…it bars a person from the sacraments…usually for public, obstinate persistence in grave sin…which can be a source of scandal for their brothers and sisters.

The USCCB needs to read Chaput’s playbook: Simply ask the governor of Colorado how he’s going to build a better state for children when there are no children (due to the governor’s support for Planned Parenthood.) If the laity waited for the clergy to take the lead in this issue, it would’ve died long ago.

“A response he made recently to questions about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have infuriated the FAR-RIGHT EDGE of the Catholic blogosphere, and drawn ire from some of the MOST CONSERVATIVE Catholic leaders…”

Newsspeak for “only hardcase nutjobs would find the bishop’s stand objectionable.” Another way of putting it “we in the secular media are behind you 100% bishop.”

Unfortunately too many of our leaders are a bunch of wimps.

These are our “Sad Times”.

Kind of like how when Ratzinger was elected he was called a Nazi by the flaming liberal left. The leftist media has gotten so open minded that their brains fell out.
