I’m curious that you’ve objected to the word ‘private,’ considering that you’ve just explained how everyone at your church brings their Bibles to make sure the pastor isn’t teaching anything un-Biblical. Then, aren’t you judging whether he’s teaching anything un-Biblical by your own private interpretation? What gives you the authority to decide that you know more than anyone else about what the Bible really means?

This is derailing the topic but here is an answer.

The Rosary contains the Five Mysteries, Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries, which are all centered on Jesus Christ ministry.

Five Joyful Mysteries (said on Mondays, Sundays from the first Sunday of Advent until Lent)
  1. The Annunication to Mary (Gabriel visit announcing the Coming of Jesus Christ).
  2. Visitation of Mary: Her visit to her cousin Elizabeth
  3. The Nativity of Our Lord.
  4. The Presentation of the Child Jesus in the Temple.
  5. The Finding of Our Lord in the Temple.
Five Luminous Mysteries (Said on Thurs)
  1. The Baptism of Christ in the Jordan
  2. The Wedding Feast at Cana
  3. THe Announcement of the Kingdom
  4. The Transfiguration of the Lord.
  5. The institution of the Eucharist (Last Supper).
Sorrowful Mysteries (said on Tues, Fri, and Sundays of Lent)
  1. The Agony of the Garden.
  2. THe Scourging at the Pillar
  3. The Crowning with Thorns
  4. The Carrying of the Cross
  5. The Crucifixion and Death of the Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Glorious Mysteries (said on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from Easter til Lent).
  1. The Resurrection
  2. The Ascension of Our Lord.
  3. The Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles.
  4. The Assumption of Mary (also cited in revelation 12:1; it mention a woman APPEARED in heaven)
  5. The Coronation of Our Lady as Queen of heaven and earth (base out of Revelation 12:1).
There are five decades in the rosary, and you mention the mysteries, followed by Our Father, and on the small beads ten hail marys, followed by One Glory Be, and the Fatima prayer which goes like, O, My Jesus forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls into heaven, especially those who need most of your mercy.

Oh one more thing, you begin the rosary by reciting the Apostles Creed. It is a holy because it is use as a meditative prayer, we mediate on the mysteries of the life of Jesus Christ…
The rosary reminds of
Mat 6:7
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Private interpretation? How is it private? Am I sitting on a high chair somewhere dictating what billions are to believe? When I go to church, most if not the entire congregation brings their bibles so they can be sure the pastor is quoting scripture accurately. Also, we don’t pull out a verse here and there and build doctrine on it like some religious institutions.
I used to belong to one of those religious institutions, and then I converted to the Church that presided over the assemblies that compiled scripture, and thus is the Church uniquely qualified to interpret the entirety of scripture within its proper context.

Go on record reagrding which ‘religious institution’ does as you say. I suspect I know what you mean, but for some reason, you’re avoiding a direct answer.

 Like we haven’t hear that one before. And it is as wrong today as it was when the protestants used it in ages past.

I’m not surprised that ‘believers’ has pulled out his standard objection to the rosary based on an erroneous interpretation of vain repetition. Of course, we dealt with that several months ago over here.

Let’s get back to why I posted these verses in the first place. The Bible is the authority and Bible says so. I pulled theses verses to show you. It seems you have a problem with it. As long as I see some saying the their church is the authority, I will continue posting these verses.
The Bible is the only authority only if we accept you private interpertation of Scripture. Under what authority do you interpret Scripture for the rest of us? What should we do when others personal interpertation of Scripture disagrees with yours?

By private, I would define that as a person or religious organization who says what the bible means and cannot be corrected. I suppose that would be called infallibility. You say the pope is infallible and I say he has no right to private interpretation.

Under what authority can you tell me that I don’t have the authority to read the bible myself? The Bible says I must live by every Word of God. The only way I know how to do that is to read it myself.

So if you disagree with your pastor and the person next to you disagrees with you who decides which private interpertation is correct?

**When in fear, trembling and unworthiness we are yet permitted to receive the divine, undefiled Mysteries of Christ, our King and Lord, we should then display even greater watchfulness, strictness and guard over our hearts, so that the divine fire, the body of our Lord Jesus Christ, may consume our sins and stains, great and small. For when that fire enters into us, it at once drives the evil spirits from our heart and remits the sins we have previously committed, leaving the intellect free from the turbulence of wicked thoughts. And if after this, standing at the entrance to our heart, we keep strict watch over the intellect, when we are again permitted to receive those Mysteries the divine body will illumine our intellect still more and make it shine like a star. **

Beautiful. Thank you !🙂

Thanks for the statistics… The Word of God says…

Mat 7:14 Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Seeing how the Catholic church has over a 1 billion members… that would be 1 out of every 6 people on earth. That seems like a very wide road to me.

In your opinion. I dont have the authority to tell you how to interpert Scripture. In fact I think that personal interperation of Scripture is an excercise in futility.

Mat 6:7

You failed to look at one word. VAIN. None of the prayers are are repetitious are vain.

Even Jesus pray repetitious prayers.

Mark 14: 36-40.
And he saith: Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee: remove this chalice from me; but not what I will, but what thou wilt. 37 And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping. And he saith to Peter: Simon, sleepest thou? couldst thou not watch one hour? 38 Watch ye, and pray that you enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. 39 A going away again, he prayed, saying the** same words**. 40 And when he returned, he found them again asleep, (for their eyes were heavy,) and they knew not what to answer him.
Unless you know what is written in a man’s heart, you cannot know if the rosary is prayed in vain. Only God knows the hearts of men.

In you opinion. Why should we accept your opinion based on your private interperation of Scripture?

I never told you not to read the Bible - far from it! I’m simply trying to understand how you or anyone else can claim that your interpretation is correct without some handing on of authority? If you differ from your pastor, then why would you assume that you’re right and he’s wrong?

Yes but not all them practice their faith nor do they believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ’s Church.

Dispite the numbers, many Christians disagree with you concerning the main issue. That is the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Eucharist.

The last post is about the Eucharist. I apologize for derailing this thread. Some partakers of this thread indeed mislead it to include myself and others.

The thread police is here.
