I won’t tell my mother you named her favorite singer, Michael McDonald. Thems fightin’ words around our house. I would not include him despite his bad articulation because he can at least carry a tune and has a decent tone to his voice.
I don’t agree as far as “favorite singer” but I do like most of his songs. I don’t agree with “bad articulation” either.

What about David Hasselhoff? or Courtney Love? or William Shatner? or Teli Sevalis (not sure on the spelling but he did have a record once)
Now I agree with all of these! Yuk!

I’m surprised no one has mentioned William Shatner.
I can’t go with Shatner because he doesn’t take himself seriously at all. He knows how bad he is, and plays it up to the fullest.

My votes go to: Britney Spears, K-Fed, Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton.

I’ve never been a Michael McDonald fan either, although I don’t think he’s a bad musician. Something about his voice grates on my nerves. Not sure what it is.

Aretha Franklin for the national anthem I’ve heard her “sing” a couple of times.

I know this doesn’t qualify, but I just had to get it off my chest.

I think I’d have to say Paris Hilton. She’s NOT a singer…I wouldn’t say Justin Timberlake or Christina A. They HAVE talent, have you heard them sing? I’ve gone to their concert, and both of their voices are amazing. But Paris…just no.

Every group since Pro Tools came on the market.

The music scene isnt about music anymore. Take someone that is a extremely talented musician but looks like they have been beaten with the ugly stick, they will never get signed.
Then take someone that has zero musical talent but is very attractive, they will get signed and make millions.
Just look at Spears, the simpson girls, etc.
No talent hacks that are attractive. They belch out something that barely resembles music, then the recording studio uses Pro Tools to clean it up to make something marketable.
The real musicians will rarely get signed

can’t remember the singer’s name, I think he was Irish, had one hit, a long whine about my dad beat me, my mother died, I can’t keep a girlfriend, so I am, alone again, naturally, sounded like somebody you would run away from if you saw him on the street.
I think you mean Gilbert O’Sullivan “Alone Again, Naturally”.

Although some of his earlier stuff is not too bad, I think Sir Elton has worn rather badly. I’m sorry but his voice is so horrendously off key (I’m thinking “Lion King” here) lately it’s painful. And Phil Collins is nothing but one-chord yelling. (C’mon Disney, get some decent musicians!)

Just nobody say anything bad about my man Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. 🙂

And you have to give Lawrence Welk credit–the shows were clean, there was a nice blend of style (and we none of us would like to go back to the tie dye and denim, or the polyester leisure suits, or the big hair and football shoulder pads, or the grunge, etc. It’s not quite ‘old’ enough to be ‘classic.’ Me, I’d go for the 30s and 40s styles in a heartbeat–REAL skirts, real style!)–and even if most of us find the ‘Irish tenors’ impossibly hokey after hearing “the Three Tenors”, they are actually adequate for the style expected.

When I was a kid I wanted to grow up to wear a pastel gown and sing close harmony, darn it!

I LOVE Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons:bounce:
How about Tiny Tim for a bad singer? Remember Tiptoe Through The Tulips:eek: ? How about Kris Kristofferson? He could write songs and he could act, but when he sings…:nope:

Aretha Franklin for the national anthem I’ve heard her “sing” a couple of times.

I know this doesn’t qualify, but I just had to get it off my chest.
I disagree with you about Aretha Franklin. Personally, I think the worst singer and worst version of the national anthem is Rosanne Barr.

‘Worst ever’? Wow, where do I start…? This is going to take some thought …

This leaves me with very few choices (I don’t actively seek out bad music). So here we go:

The Beatles.
I will now switch off the online radio station I am presently streaming and put on a Beatles album in reparation for such blasphemy!!

John, Paul, George and Ringo … the greatest four man act since Matthew, Mark, Luke and John … 😛

Wierd Al Yankovic.
Get thee behind me, Satan!

I’d have to second whoever said the Beatles–they’re not that bad in themselves, but they’re diabolically overrated.

Oh, what about the Doors? As Mike Nelson put it, Jim Morrison sounds like someone’s dad singing in the shower.

Any group put together by a record label is pure evil. That includes the Monkees, although in themselves they’re not all that bad. But what about Criss-Cross or the darksome specter that is boy band music?

Okino Shuntaro’s pretty crummy, too, but you wouldn’t have heard of him. He’s a Japanese pop singer who does music in a lot of anime–I have to mute the end credits of GunXSword, one of my favorite shows, just because of his bad singing. And J-pop’s usually pretty good.
