Barry Manilow
all post-1990 rap
Limp Bizkit and the rest of the new-rap-metal garbage
Foreigner
The Steve Miller Band
Billy Idol
Britney Spears
The Backstreet Boys (and any similar boy bands like 98 degrees
and N sync)

Those are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head…there are many more.

Yes, they are bad. Every one of their “songs” sounds exactly the same.

Also, I think Motley Crue should be on the list. What a bunch of heroin addict no-talent clowns.
It doesn’t take too many brain cells to write songs called “Girls Girls Girls”

In that it lacks melody, perhaps; but it is still poetry and it is still art. Like anything else, you usually have to dig to get to the good stuff – what’s on the charts nowadays is generally pretty horrible.

Also, I disagree with 1990 being the cutoff – Public Enemy, Automator, and Del, to name a few, are still putting out some excellent albums.

‘Worst ever’? Wow, where do I start…? This is going to take some thought. I’m going to have to narrow it down…
  • Nothing after 1990. If they started up after then, they haven’t been around long enough to prove their awful permanence.
  • No punks. Bad punk groups either realized they couldn’t play their instruments (see Fear’s New York’s Alright If You Like Saxophones) or weren’t punks.
  • No avant-garde or noise music. You aren’t supposed to like that.
  • No rap or metal (as specified by the OP)? Hey, I actually like Public Enemy and Black Sabbath!
  • Can’t be obscure; in order to be truly terrible the music must be everywhere.
This leaves me with very few choices (I don’t actively seek out bad music). So here we go:

Enya…Ughh. Someone said they would rather listen to nails against a chalkboard and that is my feeling of Enya music. I don’t have anything against her, I just can not take her voice. Like I said though, just my opinion.
 
I have not read any other posts on here, but I am throwing my :twocents: in for Nirvana and any band that followed that trend of punk/grunge :banghead:
 
I guess everyone here is too young to know or remember the absolute, hands down horror of the millenium. Yes, I’m talking about the ukalale playing, falsetto challenged

I love Nirvana and punk/grunge. That is the music of my generation. I was so sad because I planned a vacation to Florida, then found out that Nirvana was playing in town. I was thinking of cancelling my vacation. My friends talked me out of it. I said, “But what if Kurt dies?” thinking OD, not suicide. They said that I could always see Nirvana some other time. I went on the vacation that November, but was crushed the following April when I got the news of his death while I was at work. On the plus side, I did see Alice in Chains before Layne Staley died.

A lot of people liked Nirvana and that was their “scene” and mine was 80’s/90’s rock and roll. That was my thing. It still is, but now it is more Christian rock (Disciple, Pillar, Toby Mac, etc.)

Different strokes for different folks
