I know nothing about him. But congrats, Catholic adelphoi, on having chosen a new pope. I hope he does well. :highprayer:

I must admit I was a little disappointed that they didn’t choose me. But obviously they weren’t ready for that much change. 😛
Hello,

Which ordinariate will you be joining? 🙂

CARM is coming to the NW, Portland near end of April. They are connected to a ‘Christian’ church in Newberg, a strong Quaker town.

I am tempted to picket after the willful demonstration of deliberately deleting rest of texts proving Catholic ancient liturgy.

Oh well, like to like.

His mother and father were both immigrants from Italy.
That is quite a rich heritage.

I like this pope more and more every minute that passes. God bless Pope Francis I with spiritual and physical health.

“We can walk all we want, we can build many things, but if we don’t proclaim Jesus Christ, something is wrong. We would become a compassionate NGO and not a Church which is the bride of Christ,” he said, speaking in Italian without notes.
When we walk without the cross, when we build without the cross and when we proclaim Christ without the cross, we are not disciples of the Lord. We are worldly," he told the massed ranks of cardinals clad in golden vestments.

Pope Francis. Reuters.

Amen. And a lot of Protestant denominations need to hear that.

Amen, sir, amen.

I am not about to become Catholic. But if the CC were to make the changes they’d need to make to pick me as pope, then I would do it, as that would eliminate all of my major objections. 😃

Agreed! That’s a very good note for him to start out on. 👍

Your thoughts on the Papal election and conclave.
If a new Pope is elected today, I’ll ask the mod to change the title.
From what I have read I like him. Quite a bit actually.

My one concern being his age. But maybe not a biggie.

As a non Catholic, but more importantly, someone who hasn’t done any research concerning the new pope, I don’t feel qualified to share an opinion. This afternoon, I did hear from a friend who was raised United Methodist, but is married to a man who is ordained in the Pentecostal Church of God, that she’s quite impressed with the new pope. I have no idea what her husband’s thoughts are, but I’ve never heard him speak negatively of the Catholic church.

He seems to be a genuine person deeply concerned for the plight of the disadvantaged. A person unwilling to give up everyday tasks that make even those of us who are well off stay down to earth.

I am praying that he can get rid of the bad men in the vatican.

I do not want him to get things too simple and ruin the beauty that is the art of the vatican. There is a certain spiritual beauty of catholic rituals/sacraments

I am praying that he really isn’t a closet follower of liberation theology. I will be deeply disappointed with that

i want him to start wearing the red shoes of a fishermen. I love that tradition. It is just so “Peter”
