I have a few times, but the more I do so, the more I realize that I have made the correct decision. I still enjoy the music, the sacred theater of a well-designed ritual, the beauty of the buildings, but it is the same enjoyment and appreciation I would have at a beautiful work of art, symphony, a well-crafted play. I find no more spiritual fulfillment in the church than in those others.Do you still visit high-church parishes?
*Non-Catholic? Why are you on this forum? *I am just curious to know what the reasons are that so many non-Catholics are on this forum. This is Catholic Answers. Are you here to convert - yourself - or us? Do you have a true curiousity or do you just want to show us the error of our ways?

**hi iām new here and i just came to see how catholics and others religions are similar and different. and also because i need some help from catholics, iām a catholic but in 2 weeks iām going o be baptize in the mormon church and iām only 16 but i think i dont believe in the catholic church **
I, too have often wondered why non-Catholics come here. I read the non-Catholic threads on this forum to find out about other faiths. I am truly amazed and heartened that so many non-Catholics are curious about the cc. My experience with Protestantism was always so negative. I was being told in a non-denominational Bible study I was involved in for two years that Catholics donāt read the Bible, being told all sorts of falsehoods about what the cc teaches. When I disputed their false assertions, they wouldnāt believe me. They even told me I would go to Hell. Then one of them proudly announced she would only marry a Christian, so she made her Catholic boyfriend shout out on the balcony that āJESUS IS MY PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOR.ā I was horrified. I hope God put me there for a reason. I left after two years and started my own Bible Study at my parish.LoL. Iād call that a knee-jerk reaction.
Watch out, if you stray here often enough (it is addicting) you may end up bringing your wife back home to Rome!I just joined the forum recently and the number one reason I joined is that there appears to be a depth of thought and discussion here that is sorely lacking in most religious forums.
I appreciate liturgy, classical music, history, form and orderā¦and jump-up-and-down passionate Pentecostal worship and donāt-know-what-will-happen-next spontaneity. My heart and mind are open to new (or old) concepts and I enjoy a reasoned discussion.
Youāve also gotten moreGiven some of the acrimonious arguments Iāve been involved in recently (particularly the accusation by one poster that I use more pejorative language about Catholics than about Protestants), I think I should answer this question, though Iāve been avoiding it!
HA! Now I know why you havenāt joined the Swim Teamā¦yetI am here first and foremost because I have been considering the claims of the Catholic Church for about twelve years. Since Iāve never quite been able to bring myself to the point of certainty necessary to take the plunge, I make up for it by hanging out here.
Keep on comingOstensibly I use this board to work through the issues, though at this point I donāt know how helpful it isāperhaps Iām just scratching an itch.
We all have our biases, weāre humanMeanwhile, I hope that as a church historian I can bring some perspective to the issues discussed here. I do not of course claim to be unbiased, but my biases are pretty complicated![]()
Truth sometimes hurts. So on the whole I think my posts help to keep both sides honest, though sometimes they just seem to annoy people.
I wouldnāt say that MOST of your claim discredit the CC. If you stick to keeping honest, Iāll be watching for your joining the Swim Team. And, of course, hanging out here helps keep me honest as well, by forcing me to confront the claims of Catholicism (even though sometimes the way those claims are presented discredits more than helping the cause of Catholicism).

I thought you were Catholic. This sucks.I am here first and foremost because I have been considering the claims of the Catholic Church for about twelve years.
Sorry, thatās not what I meant. I was saying that sometimes Catholics make what I think are bad arguments, and this obviously puts me off Catholicism rather than helping to convince me. So I really donāt know if by and large my participation on this board has helped keep me Protestant or has helped keep me from giving up on Catholicism. Some of both, although I canāt see ever giving up on Catholicism. At the very least, I hope for some kind of corporate reunion in which I could participate.I wouldnāt say that MOST of your claim discredit the CC.
But you already know the Truth, and bad arguments by Catholics wonāt change that. Weāve gotten bad arguments by Protestants, particularly Fundamentalists, and weāve gotten good arguments from Catholics.Sorry, thatās not what I meant. I was saying that sometimes Catholics make what I think are bad arguments, and this obviously puts me off Catholicism rather than helping to convince me.
Might as well join the Team, corporate reunion will not happen in our lifetimes.I canāt see ever giving up on Catholicism. At the very least, I hope for some kind of corporate reunion in which I could participate.

What other thread? How can you tell if a threadās been redirected?Contarini, can you please share your views on the other thread on why you think a person should or should not join catholicism.![]()
Here you go, Christine. What other thread? How can you tell if a threadās been redirected?
Actually, in the main I am here because I am Catholic and I like to have discussions and meet fellow-Catholics. This being the largest [and most successful] Catholic Forum in the world.Because there is a section here titled: **Non-Catholic Religions ** LOL And I am curious about you guys being that I was baptized as one of you peeps as an infant. Besides, this would be a dull area if there were no non-catholic to post! Admit it, you would miss us if we were not here. Wellā¦some of you would.
I bet some wake up and sayā¦āAhh, now lets see what the non-catholics have posted!ā![]()
