I am interested in knowing how non-Catholics, and converts to Catholicism from other religions, found the CA Forums.

I am not quite sure how I found the CA Forums, but it may have been I was on the Internet one day, and thought something like this: “Hey, I think that I will type in www.catholic.com and see what I find. There is probably an Internet site with that address”.

I am neither a convert nor a non-Catholic but I found CA forum from EWTN.

EWTN started playing Catholic Answers Live head-to-head against Hank Hannegraaf’s BibleAnswerman program. Hank does a lot of shows that just aren’t interesting to me, and besides–his shows are re-broadcast at 11:00 PM and several are again re-broadcast over the weekend. So I would alternate between CA and BibleAnswerman shows for several years.

I finally looked up the CA Website about a year or so ago and they had just added this forum just a few months prior (so far as I can tell).

Ditto that. 👍

I read “Catholicism and Fundamentalism” and wanted to find out more about Karl Keating, so I googled his name. The link to catholic.com was one of the first links that poped up. Discovered “Catholic Answers Live” and CAF from catholic.com

I found CA while looking at the ECF. I found the site a great reference. Then I saw the “Forums” tab. I clicked it. There I found this. Good find.

Heh my online learning started at christiananswers.net, a highly Protestant site, given to me by a Protestant minister in my quest to learn about Christianity.

Being born Catholic but left the Church for a Protestant one, I started reading and thinking “Wow these guys bash Catholics.” And almost as if begging for a reply or rebuttal, one day I just typed “catholic.com”.

Glad I did.

Someone posted the link on one of the Coming Home Network forums, where I am also a member.

I used to be part of that when Chris Larose and Patty Bonds used to be in as well. It was not a board but more of an email exchange. Are Chris and Patty still on it?

Sorry to get off topic.

I’m not Catholic. I was googling for info reguarding the Catholic stance on Mary’s perpetual virginity, and ended up at Jimmy Aiken’s web page and followed a reference to Catholic Answer’s Forum.

I think I did a Yahoo or Google search on Catholic Talk Forums, and found this site. This is really a great forum and I have dropped my membership in other forums now that I found this one. Too much hostility and hatred on the other forums, and it is nice to find one that has so many posters with beliefs that are similar to mine.

I found the forums because I have been a long-time subscriber to THIS ROCK magazine which announced the CA website some time ago, and from the website developed the Forums!

I was searching for more information about catholics and one of my catholic friends suggested it. I am still figuring out the whole theology thing but this website has helped a lot!!

I read about it in one of Karl’s solicitation letters, I think. Anyway, it was from something in the mail. I came on in a month or two after that.

I emailed one of the converts featured in the book Suprised by the Truth - asking her how she could leave her Baptist faith & accept all of the Catholic (gasp!) teachings. She wrote back & suggested I post all of my Catholic issues / questions here.

And some 3,000 plus posts later… I finally have reached the point where I think I have more answers than questions. 🙂

I am an archaeologist and just on a lark decided to check up on the latest in biblical arch. I read a little on the internet about the ancient near east and realized I wasn’t just interested in the history itself but in the history of the early Church. From there, Ityped in catholic.com and what can I say? The tools God uses…
