I have this same wonderment aboutthe Catholic Church. I know there are many faithful believers. Why is it that signs and wonders do not follow them?
The way is narrow I guess. He said that some would do greater miracles than he did.
There was a documentary on the Discovery Channel about a minister in southern Texas who was studing the new testament with his small flock. They were a bright group and they got to the point where they believed that they really understood the whole of the gospel message. So, they asked themselves what to do, and decided that they would try to help some people.
They visited a trash dump across the border in Mexico and counted the number of trash pickers who were surviving by picking things out of the dump.
They didn’t have much money, they estimated about one hundred people were picking over the trash at the dump. So, they got together enough food to make about 125 plates of food to feed them.
They took the food down to the dump in a station wagon. When they arrived and started giving away the food, a lot of people came, many more than they expected. Each was served a heavy plate of food. And, like the miracle of the loaves and fishes the food did not run out until everyone was fed.
The final count of persons fed was 2,500 and they had only brought enough for 125.
Well, the minister became ordained as a catholic priest and a large mission was built near where the miracle occured.
It was a nice story. At the end the Discovery channel cut to out takes of the production. The priest and his assistant and two camera people were standing some distance from the front of the mission. A camera man said to the priest that they would use special effects to superimpose a large rainbow over the mission.
Just after the cameraman had spoken, a real double rainbow appeared above the mission in the distance. It was huge and framed the mission building perfectly. And, the priests assistant was the only one who spoke. He said something like, ‘that’s what you ask for that’s what you get’.
It was a wonderful program, I wish they would air it again.
