Non-Catholics: What do you find admirable about Catholicism?

Do you remember the days of the Soviet regime, Frank J? Not precisely something really funny to experience, actually!

That was probably the oddest thing anyone has said to me about being Catholic, but I guess they were grossed out??? Not sure of the motivation behind the comment. I did explain that the cups are metal (and not wood or some other material) on purpose, but that’s where we left it 🙂

In the Jewish Renewal Movement, after services, right before the Oneg Shabbat (post-services meal), we share bread and wine which is traditional in Judaism…but unlike other synagogues, we pass around a big goblet of wine and share it, too!

Catholic? And your profile says you’re an Eastern Orthodox Christian? Then you are very friendly with false testimony, I guess! And making a mockery of God Himself !! My wife is Jewish and we have a great mix house when it comes to the holydays in both religions.

We have a very great married life.

In the Orthodox Church we also share from the same cup. I just wanted to tell you that so that you will know you are not the only one who do that. Ours is different way it is done but maybe the same.

We recieve Jesus Christ in the body and blood. I know you don’t understand this, it would take sometime to explain.

Sorry, Frank J, I realize i just misread you and that the first paragraph was not yours, but Boston’s! I apologize.
I once took part in a Catholic Byzantine Mass near Joliette, Quebec. To have the Body and Blood of Christ all at once at communion from that utensil was quite an experience. With all coming from one same bread… awesome!

Wow! Back off! I didn’t know my profile said that. I didn’t even think I had a profile on there. I’m just figuring out the signature now. Don’t believe EVERYTHING you see on the Internet!!!

I’ll be glad to take a look, but don’t be a jerk at a darn profile thingy. It’s not polite!

Frank J, I realize you may not know how to make a quote appear apart from your own words.
First, form the post you chose to quote by pressing on “quote” at the bottom of the said post, you eraze all the parts of the post that you don’t want to appear, BUT you have to leave the word QUOTE right at the beginning of the quote(with the opening bracket) and the name of the poster and the 7-digit number right after the name, and the closing bracket right after that number. Finally you have to keep the word QUOTE and the surrounding brackets at the end of the quote.
Then, when the quote appears, it will be separate from your own words, and thus we won’t be confusing the quote from your own words.
Sorry about the harsh tone I used toward you, but you seemed to treat my Church as though she were the whore of Babylon. I would never want to treat your Church like that. We are supposed to be brothers in Jesus Christ, not adversaries… God bless you!

Using your own logic, I should have dropped out of high school since there are some teachers who are sex offenders in the school system.

OK, that’s VERY interesting. As Catholics we drink from one cup. It is based on Jewish Passover Tradition. I was in a Lutheran LCMS church and they had all these individual itty bitty little paper cups. It just seemed strange to drink the precious blood out of a Dixie cup instead of a chalice. But that’s for another thread.

You don’t need to use the expression “whore of Babylon” to give the impression that you treat her that way. Just describe and exaggerate what seems to be her flaws, her own or that of her visible leader the Pope, and also don’t mention anything good she does. Then you leave the same impression in the minds of the people! And even tyhough you are not saying it, what you say about it is saying it, and so yes, you have “said” it, in a way…
