Non-Catholics: When you hear Catholics equated to Satan, does it bother you?

I am not offended by this false claim about my Catholilc faith, for our master said if they persecuted “me, they will persecute you”, So this type of false claims comes from the father of lies, not our seperated brothers and sisters. Even our master was accused of the same thing, I consider an honor to be persecuted as my Master was, Like Peter who was not worthy of being crucified like his Lord, So they crucified our first Pope upside down.

Let us learn from our master, to stand firm in the face of persecution and we can never be divided, and always remain as One body, one faith, one church, one Lord.

In retrospect, I consider this false accusation as a blessing, not an offense. The challenge my master asks of me, is to love him. And I do, but I war with the powers and principalities that entice my seperated brother, by Loving him and praying for him.

**Sola, I have attended services of these types. From my experience, they are preached to the invited Catholics who know very little, this negative preaching is to convince them to stay their to hear his truth, and leave the Catholic faith. That’s why you admit to this rhetoric and this type of conversation is done only among those non catholics who are doing it.

Satan has a good racket going, but his time is up. The Truth is getting out now, and these lost sheep God wants them back, and his Shephard is looking for them until he finds every one of them, for not one will be lost out of the Masters hand. And that includes you.**

your pastors have to keep saying that to you guys to keep you all from seeing the truth. if you know what i mean.

Well I’m a Protestant too and I’m very shocked both by what Mc Arthur said and by your message … so it’s all right to think and say Catholics are Satanic as long as you don’t preach it from the pulpit on Sunday morning and as long as you don’t use that type of expressions when talking to Catholics, but it is all right to use it in “informal meetings” …
the message I get from it is : OK you Protestants, Catholics are Satanic, but don’t tell them that it is what you think about them … say it only among friends you are sure of …
So this Mac Arthur adds hypocrisy to his intolerance …

I’m French, in my country there are many Catholics ( about 80 % of the population, Protestants representing about …2% ! ), so if they were Satanic I think we would have noticed it

Yes, it does bother me a lot. However, in my personal experience, it’s relatively rare. However, when I do see it. it’s a BIG ONE! I saw someone on YouTube who did a whole video series claiming that “the Catholic Church is disguised white witchcraft.”
After defending the Pope in a discussion with him, I challenged him on the doctrine of Sola Scriptura [insert crickets chirping here].

It bothers me because I do not feel it is justified to attack fellow Christians simply because we do not agree with them. On a similar note though I object to Catholics who call Protestant’s Satan’s spawn or some such similar name.

In a world where Christianity is so often under attack and where so many people have not heard the Gospel, I think it is wrong for Christians to snipe at each other. Our efforts would be bettered utilized in carrying the message to those who don’t believe.

In the 7:00 minute mark of his sermon in this file, he states the following:*In the long war on the truth, the most formidable, relentless, and deceptive enemy has been Roman Catholicism. It is an apostate, corrupt, heretical, false Christianity. It is a front for the kingdom of Satan.*Protestants, non-Catholics, does this sort of comment bother you? In what way??

I’ve noticed that the above link in my old thread is dead (when they played John MacArthur’s diatribe against Catholicism—chock full of ignorance!–on Way of the Master Radio). I found the MP3 of that episode again here containing the above mentioned quote. It was actually a 2 hour show, and the 2nd hour, in which he continues, is here.

Warning: This podcast is not for the easily offended, as MacArthur spends the whole time misrepresenting, and building up straw men to tear down in his misguided b@stardization of Catholicism.

I know it is hard to understand comments like this. It is important thought to look beyond those comments and try to find out why they are made. When a person finds error in a religious goup it is his job to point out this error and warn others against that religious group. This is all that MacArthur is doing. He may be a little harsh with his description of the group but you must check out MacArthur’s reasons for those remarks instead of criticizing the remarks. You may find more truth in his comments that you think.
