The German Catholic News website reports that experts in Latin America expect exceptions to celibacy shortly.

START

"Latin America experts expect the first exceptions to celibacy shortly

Priestly ordination of married men will soon be a reality: Latin American experts are convinced of this in the Catholic Church. Bishops from Amazonia would soon ask Pope Francis for permission to consecrate the “viri probati”, it was said - and this procedure was in the spirit of the pontiff…"

END

The article also states that ordination of females as priests is not open, thus upholding the universal doctrines of the Church.

There are already married priests in the Church. There is one in my diocese. I am no where near the Amazon and have my choice of 20 different Masses every day of the week within 10 miles off home.
If a married priest is an acceptable option here, why wouldn’t it be a brilliant answer to an urgent problem in the Amazon?
I don’t understand all the angst about this, especially for people who are not affected by it, which is probably all of us on CAF.🤷
