I had a discussion with a friend the other day and he mentioned that not every sin is confessable. Something that you wouldn’t mention in confession, such as breaking the Eucharistic fast before mass, is not a “big enough” sin to take to confession. I think if its something you recognize as wrong and can remember it, it needs to be confessed.

Is this right? Am I too scrupulous when it comes to confession?

only mortal sins need be confessed, but it is often considered a good practice to confess venial ones as well.

I think everything is fair game for confession. You must confess mortal sins, are encouraged to confess venial sins, and should be allowed to confess any matter of doubtful conscience (provided that you are not monopolizing the confessor’s time!)

Catechism:

By receiving more frequently through this sacrament the gift of the Father’s mercy, we are spurred to be merciful as he is merciful

What do you think?

I have confessed to certain thoughts and actions that I wasn’t sure about. I felt guilty, so I confessed them. My Priest discusses my “unsure” sin with me and puts them in proper perspective. I always use the rule that if I feel guilty, it’s better to confess and let the Priest take the ball and either run with it or hand it back.
He has never disparaged me, and I always find comfort.
