In the future will the suicide hotline be for the purpose of helping to kill the caller?
There’s a difference between someone young contemplating suicide because they’re depressed (but might not be depressed next month) and someone doing so who is in the end stages of a painful terminal illness and has no hope of a return to a normal life. What could someone on a suicide hotline even tell a terminally ill patient? They can hardly tell the patient that things will get better.

To you. Not to the young person (as though it’s only young people calling).

Let me restate. There is a difference between someone who is contemplating suicide because of something bad in their life that could improve and someone who is doing so because of something bad and almost intolerable in their life that will not only not improve, but will only get worse. Suicide hotlines aren’t going to be able to help the latter person much since there’s really no hope of something better.

You must give respect if you wish to be respected. And not just in the case of assisted suicide. Everywhere. Be it gay marriage, extramarital sex, or any other “immoral” behavior. If it does not force you to participate, don’t chastise them. You have no “right” to be spared of knowing about these “immoral” acts. As the old bumper sticker said: “If you don’t like it, then don’t do it.”
Here you are chastising about chastising.

Thank you for making this point. This is a huge difference that most people should be able to grasp and comprehend. I understand people having different opinions, but not comprehending the difference seems to be willful some times.

God made us without us. God will not save us without us.
The choice will forever be yours as all the grace you need will have been provided.

Ignorance can’t get one into heaven: it isn’t a secret back door. Heaven requires sanctifying grace. Ignorance only reduces one’s culpability for sin, lessening the punishment of hell, and you’re correct, you surely are not ignorant about the means of getting to heaven. I’m sorry it’s a source of pride to you. I’d say I’d pray for you but I’m terrible about praying for strangers more than just at the moment. But I’ll still offer an our Father, hail Mary and glory be for you now. You’ll get the grace, it’s up to you to go with it. Your choice.
I’m pretty sure he already knows this, best not to waste your breath.

A couple seconds on the keyboard never hurt and so many people seem to think invincible ignorance is a backstage pass.

I’ve noticed you make a lot of posts telling people in various ways not to bother posting. Do you actually enjoy message boards?

He already said
And being a non-believer is already a mortal sin. Since I already heard the “good news”, I cannot claim the excuse of invincible ignorance.
so it doesn’t look necessary.

I do, but at the same time it depends on what’s on.

Respect does not equal emotionalism or relativism.

Even non-Christians do not agree with the gay lifestyle, extramarital affairs are also abhorrent to these people and is a common ground for civil divorce.

The following are simply my thoughts that have occurred to me and is only my opinion:-
One aspect that comes to my mind is the possibility of financial gain. Abort all the unborn non-perfect as the medical costs involved in their care for the term of their natural life is a drain on society as they do not contribute through taxes. Those on the other end of life are also a drain as they too require a lot of care, equipment, medication - again a financial burden on society and they at this age are not working therefore not contributing to taxes, so lets knock them off too, but that would cause an uproar so lets legalize it so they do it for us themselves.

Legalizing voluntary euthanasia will lead to many cases not being voluntary. Google world news for stories where nurses in nursing homes have decided themselves various residents should die and have murdered the elderly through having access to various drugs. And those who think legalizing euthanasia will prevent this from happening have their heads in the sand, because there will be those who do not wish to die when those ‘others’ determine they have no right to live as they do not serve any “useful” purpose in society.

So who will be left? Only those in the middle who contribute to society, as contracepting & aborting the unborn out of existence means there aren’t generations coming along behind to replace those who are at the end of their “useful” lives and being euthanized either voluntarily or involuntarily, so humanity will murder itself out of existence.

I didn’t say anything about that decision being made by others. But I can see someone with Alzheimer’s making that decision for themselves when they are still competent to do so.

So usually not then, going by your usual. It’s a funny ol’ boat you float, but to each his own.

He’s not the only one here, now is he? Lots of lurkers out there.
