I currently cannot receive due to my marriage to my husband not being convalidated (sp?) For some reason, until this week, I completely forgot that just because I had had a Christian Ceremony did not being my marriage was recognized, so up until this week I had been receiving. I also I had missed last confession before this past Holy week, so now I have a major sin hanging on me. This past Good Friday was the hardest for me. Nothing could have prepared me for it. I still went up for a blessing, kneeling before and after in prayer, trying to fight back tears, although I know I didn’t succeed. Holy Saturday I was talking to my mom and she was confused to what was so wrong, because she as well thought that my Marriage should be recognized, but upon talking, remembered. I cried my eyes out and spilled everything. That afternoon and through the Vigil Mass, I prayed for strength. I must tell you, that helped me tremendously. I did the same as well today. Yes, my heart is still breaking that I can’t receive, but I have the strength to go for my blessing and partake in mass without tears. This being said, I can relate. Pray for the strength and use that time to talk to God about everything. I must say, that that is what is helping me right now, because I have no idea how long the journey will be, especially since my husband cannot recall receiving his sacraments (although his parents assure him). I am sure, though, that once I am able to receive again, it will be a very joyous day for me (and my husband). For you, it will be one of the best days of your life as you receive for the first time. The feeling you will feel in the end when you receive will make it all worth it.
