You are mistaken about this last claim. Revelation (no s) says you cannot add or detract from this book. There was no Bible when Revelation was written. The book referred to is the Book of Revelation. The Bible as we have it, was put together, or canonized, during the last decade of the 4th century by the Councils of Hippo and Carthage. All scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit. There was always a Jewish prophet alive during the time each book of the Bible was written. There weren’t any Jewish prophets alive during the time that the apocrypha was written… therefore the apocrypha is false.
Revelations 22:18 and 22:19 God warns people not to add or detract from the Bible.
I guess that must apply to Billy Graham’s ministry as well. After all, he pre-empts regular prime time, major network television programming. Then he tells me this; Have you ever noticed that the Catholic church is always in the news compared to protestant churches. When ever some thing happenes in Roman like the Popes speaks on Easter or Christmas the news always makes a big deal about it. And when the Pope died and they elected a new Pope that you heard about on th news. He says you know why? I say no! Well He says that the devil owns that world.
This is an argument that I have seen before. How do you equate “No prophet” = “false apocrypha”? Your argument could be easily, “No (insert what you like here)” = “false apocrypha”. You remove from God His privilege of inspiring whomever He wishes at whatever time and wherever He wishes using a completely arbitrary rule that exists nowhere. All scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit. There was always a Jewish prophet alive during the time each book of the Bible was written. There weren’t any Jewish prophets alive during the time that the apocrypha was written… therefore the apocrypha is false.
Do you realize that Martin Luther removed the Deuterocanons (Protestant Apocrypha) from the bible? All bibles until the late 1600’s contained those books as a complete part of the bible, including the first KJV.Revelations 22:18 and 22:19 God warns people not to add or detract from the Bible.
Believe it or not there are some fundamentalist groups that don’t like Billy Graham’s friendliness to Catholics.I guess that must apply to Billy Graham’s ministry as well. After all, he pre-empts regular prime time, major network television programming.

How truly moronic - and I say that with all the charity I can muster right now. His contention is that Satan uses the world to PROMOTE the Catholic Church? Does he mean, like, the seemingly unending pedophelia scandal? Was that Satan “promoting” the Church? The recent scandal of the priest in NYC at St Patricks? The resignation of Cardinal Egan?Hello:
…Then he tells me this; Have you ever noticed that the Catholic church is always in the news compared to protestant churches. He says you know why? I say no! Well He says that the devil owns that world. … Then he says that the Catholic church is the church of Satans world and that he uses the news to premote his church.
would you believe that?

I know from talking to a number of Protestant converts that that plays a major part in their decision to become Catholic. Plus they want to drink and gamble and that is a big no-no in the Evangelical church. Can you quote statistics on this fact or is this your own personal opinion?
And a fine “tradition of man” that is, since neither one of those “vices” is forbidden by the Word of God.I know from talking to a number of Protestant converts that that plays a major part in their decision to become Catholic. 1809 Temperance is the moral virtue that moderates the attraction of pleasures and provides balance in the use of created goods. It ensures the will’s mastery over instincts and keeps desires within the limits of what is honorable. The temperate person directs the sensitive appetites toward what is good and maintains a healthy discretion: “Do not follow your inclination and strength, walking according to the desires of your heart.” Temperance is often praised in the Old Testament: “Do not follow your base desires, but restrain your appetites.” In the New Testament it is called “moderation” or “sobriety.” We ought “to live sober, upright, and godly lives in this world.”
Code:To live well is nothing other than to love God with all one's heart, with all one's soul and with all one's efforts; from this it comes about that love is kept whole and uncorrupted (through temperance). No misfortune can disturb it (and this is fortitude). It obeys only [God] (and this is justice), and is careful in discerning things, so as not to be surprised by deceit or trickery (and this is prudence).
Pax vobiscum,2413 Games of chance (card games, etc.) or wagers are not in themselves contrary to justice. They become morally unacceptable when they deprive someone of what is necessary to provide for his needs and those of others. The passion for gambling risks becoming an enslavement. Unfair wagers and cheating at games constitute grave matter, unless the damage inflicted is so slight that the one who suffers it cannot reasonably consider it significant.
Anglicans have a purposefully ambiguous understanding of Scripture. They included the deuterocanonicals as “Holy Scripture” but insisted they are to be “read for example of life and instruction of manners; but yet doth it not apply them to establish any doctrine.” (Articles of Religion, article VI).In all fairness, I would like to remind my fellow Catholics that while the 1611 edition of the KJV did include the seven books rejected by the Protestant Reformation, they were only included in an appendix at the end of te Old Testament (as I recall). I don’t think the Anglicans believed these books to be inspired…just worthy of study.
The 1611 KJV actually had a Scripture reading guide which read from such fine books of Holy Scripture as the Book of Wisdom.Article VI of the Articles of Religion (Of the Sufficiency of the Holy Scriptures for Salvation) notes that “In the name of Holy Scripture we do understand those canonical books of the Old and New Testament, of whose authority was never any doubt in the church.” Following this, under the subheading, “Of the Names and Number of the Canonical Books,” the article lists not only the books of the Hebrew Bible, but also “other” books, namely 1 and 2 Esdras (referred to as “third” and “fourth”), Tobit, Judith, Esther, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch, The Song of the Three Children, Susanna, Bel and the Dragon, the Prayer of Manasses, and 1 and 2 Maccabees, noting that they are read “as Hierome [Jerome] saith… for example of life and instruction of manners; but yet it [the church] doth not apply them to establish any doctrine.” In other words, the framers of the article shared antiquity’s reservations over the Apocryphal / Deuterocanonical books yet remained committed to retaining them within the general category of Holy Scripture, that is, as both sacred and canonical.
Notice that the first lessons at Morning and Evening prayer is dedicated to reading the Old TestamentThe Table and Kalender, expressing the order of
Psalmes and Lessons to be said at Morning and Euening prayer
throughout the yeere, except certaine proper feasts, as the rules
following more plainely declare.
[Psalter reading calendar described] …
The order how the rest of holy Scripture (beside the Psalter)
is appointed to bee read.
**
THe old Testament is appointed for the first Lessons at Morning and Euening prayer, and shalbe read through euery yeere once, except certaine Bookes and Chapters, which be least edifying, and might best be spared, and therfore are left vnread.
Yeah, drinking is a terrible sin. That’s why Jesus drank, and turned water into wine, etc.I know from talking to a number of Protestant converts that that plays a major part in their decision to become Catholic. Plus they want to drink and gamble and that is a big no-no in the Evangelical church.
