Not Exactly A Clown Mass, But A Clown Act For Sure

Are you trying to imply it’s licit to use in the OF?? It’s not licit, or reverent, or anything of the kind.
Of course this isn’t allowed in the O.F. But, with all of the options, variations, indults, and encouragement of “incultration” in the OF, this sort of thing is bound to happen - sort of like the “camel’s nose in the tent.” Even if they had Supersoakers pre-VII, I doubt someone would have witnessed a priest doing something like this in, say, 1951.

This is just discusting. It only proves even more that the Traditional Mass is the only true Mass catholics should be attending. God Bless
This is dumb. This is dumb on so many levels. Before you reply to this, think of why this is dumb.

I think some people don’t realize that when we’re at Mass, it’s like we’re spiritually at Calvary! 😦
Actually, in places where liturgical abuses are rampant, usually those are places with an aging congregation and a failing parish. On the otherhand, orthodox diocese and areas have far better Mass attendence, orthodoxy, and reverence for the liturgy. The orthodox areas are where all the seminarians are coming from, way more than the unorthodox areas where liturgical abuses are more likely.
true 👍

Maybe you should explain why you think the poster’s reply was dumb as opposed just calling it that. Accusations without explanations are really just name calling, which truly is dumb (notice I explained why).

Secondly, to anyone raising the question as to whether the rubrics of the Tridentine Mass forbid using super soakers, yes they do. Why? because every instrument, vestment, and vessel used in the Mass (and before it, as is the case of the Asperges Me and the Vidi Aquam) has been defined either specifically by word, or by its use as a matter of tradition.

As far as liturgical dance goes, a dear old priest use to tell us, I hardly think the Blessed Mother would have done a two step at the foot of the cross
Exactly right. When the consecration takes place, I tremble. We are at Calvary and our Lord is present.

Paul

Perhaps this thought has already been answered by a poster ( haven’t read all the posts); but, I do not understand why this priest’s Jesuit Superior has not disciplined him.🤷

I have always thought of Jesuit priests as being superior in intelligence but this man is certainly not that. Perhaps he has a mental problem.

I would really like to know what the Jesuit Order is doing about this Priest.

Because the “Traditional Mass” which the poster advocates is not nearly the most ancient rite in the Roman Church, let alone “competing” in validity with those rites in actual use in the East.

ihm, don’t be silly. This post in no way proves that the traditional Mass (whatever you think that may be) is the only Mass we should be celebrating.

Just because some idiot Priest has gone insane and possessed by the devil in no way casts doubt on the Pauline Mass, so let’s not get into that traditional Catholic v. all the rest of us.😦

I’m pretty sure that the age of the rite wasn’t at issue. The rubrics of the Traditional Mass prevents such nonsense, and there’s nothing dumb about that at all. Tell me where I’m wrong.

This is the Post In Question. IHM says that the Traditional Mass is the ONLY Mass Catholics should be attending. I showed you why it was a dumb thing to say.

No doubt he was referring to the latin rite. No doubt you knew that too, but that’s OK, I see your point. Carry on.

Roman Catholic Church => Latin Rite. What a shame it’s not available in every parish. How perverse to ban it. People could vote with their feet and avoid this kind of nonsense.

Are you perhaps confusing the Latin Rite with the TLM?

The Novus Ordo (or “New Mass”; the English liturgy we’re all used to) is the ordinary form of the Mass in the Latin Rite. The Tridentine (or Traditional) Latin Mass is the extraordinary form of the Mass in the Latin Rite. 🙂

Back on topic, re: the supersoaker blessing. I am curious as to the reaction of the congregation to this sacrilege. Does anyone know?

Heh heh heh. You’ll be telling me black is simply a darker shade of white next.

Here’s a notion: The hierarchy screwed up big-time post Vat. II. They let a clique run away with our religion. Because of obedience, loyalty to the Pope, a fetish for ‘progression’ and a wish not to rock the boat, this weird situation has persisted and can only be slowly undone.

Hence super-soakers in the sanctuary. Hopefully for not too much longer. Maybe 10-20 years.

Um…what? lol

I think we’re in agreement but I’m not sure what your issue is with the explanation I gave above. Is it wrong somehow?
