You seem to follow correctly.
Are the negative consequences of an abortion ban worth it?
Yes.

I find the notion that the bad of them outweighs the good laughable. And either way, murder should be illegal, full stop.

What is your answer?
Freer markets than we have now. Probably some targeted subsidies for those who need them. More use of HSAs will, I think, drive costs down, as it raises the perceived cost of medical care.

My thinking on this has changed over the last couple years and is kind of in flux. I’m definitely not a free-market absolutist on this anymore, but I’m also firmly opposed to heavy regulation or socialization.

Sorry, it is Indonesia and Australia, followed by the US and New Zeeland:
The Gallup does not include military defense the US provides worldwide.

Of course murder is understood to be undesirable. But if a fetus isn’t considered a life, then it isn’t considered murder. Unfortunately there is not a consensus of opinion among the scientific community that the unborn is a life - just potential life.

I don’t really care what the scientific community’s consensus on a matter of moral philosophy is.

Murder is not “understood to be undesirable.” Good Lord, those are some serious weasel-words. Murder is a horrific offense against both man and god. It’s not “undesirable;” it’s abominable.

“power” is the first false idea, followed by a false right. Abortion was marketed in 1972 as “safe and rare.” That has been shown to be false. Look up infant mortality in the United States.

The United States has become the most backward country on earth. The ancient Romans would be proud, but there’s nothing to be proud about.

I don’t know what you are thinking. Reproductive power is an exceedingly powerful creative potential. A man and a woman are co- creators, with God, when a human being is conceived with an eternal soul. A child at conception has incomprehensible potential.

I’m not sure what you mean by ,“backwards country.”

There is no such thing as “reproductive power.” In the Catholic understanding, it is called procreation. The man, the woman and God all play a role. Without that, permissive abortion now exists. The fruit. Millions dead.

I see your point, and it makes good sense, but if a woman is bent on getting an abortion, she will get one. Ireland’s restrictive law did not prevent droves of women from going across the Irish sea to England for one. It’s still a problem.
Not droves. Some but those going to England were not that high relatively speaking.

Conversely, in Australia (at least in 2008) where abortion was state controlled, the need to travel hundreds or thousands of km to abort prevented a lot of abortions.

The relative ease of committing a wrong does not change the wrong.

What’s with Romania and Ceaucescu all of a sudden? That was the 80s in a communist government. Is that all that CNN et al can come up with - to dredge up alleged “support” from the ash heap of history?

Killing to save lives, no matter the pretzel logic used attempting to justify it, is morally reprehensible and constitutes murder.
