Vern:

I know this sort of a letter would make me all the more likely to go vote. So maybe they need to look at the motive of the person that wrote it. Are they RNC or RNC in name only?
New information. An LAPD officer who was the college buddy of Tan Nguyen, Republican candidate, ordered and paid for the letter. Other than being buddies with Mr. Nguyen, why would a Los Angeles Police officer be interested in an election in another county?

Why would somebody who calls himself LCMS_No_More and gives his residence as Los Angeles, CA, be interested in an election in another county. Or is political activism restricted by law to liberals in California?😉

The Republicans here in South Florida wouldn’t DARE pull such a stunt. Most South Florida Hispanics vote Republican.

Liberals? How dare you call me a liberal. Opposition to the unamerican things being pulled by those in charge is NOT liberal, it’s patriotic. Opposition to voter suppression is NOT liberal, it’s patently American.

By the way, supporting any attempts at voter supression is not “conservative,” it’s unamerican and it’s indefensible. In my opinion, anyone who justifies it in any way whatsoever, whether by participation, defending it or minimizing it, is totally opposed to what makes America great.

That’s not the way a conservative is to think of the Constitution. The Constitution is about enumerating rights and responsibilities, not limiting them. There is no Constitutional justification for a Federal identification.
There is also no Consituional right to kill our children but that does not seem to stop the Left from claimmng there is. . It appears your outrage is quite selective.

This kind of thing is not new in Orange County.

A few years ago a campaign actually paid to post armed guards near polling places where large numbers of native-born and naturalized Hispanics were registered in an obvious attempt to thwart them from voting.

Mr. Tan, the Republican in this case, is running against incumbent Rep. Loretta Sánchez, who twice defeated “B-1” Bob Dornan and was twice accused of rigging Dornan’s defeat.
Interestingly, both Dornan and Sánchez are Catholics (Sánchez and her sister who is a member of Congress from another district were born and reared in the community, while Dornan used some questionable means to get on the ballot when he moved to OC).
In her first victory, one of the charges from the voted-out Dornan that one household had a number of unrelated persons registered and that they had probably voted for the challenger. It was true, none of the nuns living in the convent were blood-related:rotfl: . The question did arise: How would anyone know how anyone voted in a secret ballot?

I suppose that it could be coincidental that all of these questionable tactics were instigated from the Republican side in notoriously “conservative Orange County”. 😃

That is irrelevant to the question of whether or not the Constitution gives the Congress the right to impose a Federal ID.

For the record, the argument used by the Supreme Court to say that there is a Constitutional right to an abortion is flawed. The underlying reason is not flawed (the implied right to privacy in the constitution does exist), but the failure to take into account the right of the unborn child to live under the fifth amendment is a major flaw. You want to talk about that, fine, we can do so where it’s on topic to do so.

Also, kindly refrain from assuming or saying that you know what I think. It’s rude and uncalled for.

When you throw temper tantrums like that, it sets off the smoke detector in me kilts.😉

I did not say whom it went to. It was wrong no matter whom it went to.

I agree with Vern. Those that have gone through the naturalization process SHOULD KNOW what the rules are.

I sill say a federal ID is needed. This way the dead can’t vote, illegals can’t vote and no one gets to vote two or three times. They can be given out with drivers licenses and/or other state and federal ID.
Sounds good to me. Some states register people to vote when they get a driver’s license. I often wondered if they checked to see if all were legal.

I am sure you can express your opinions without such vitriole and uncivil remarks. I believe you might be taken more seriously if you did. Each of us is allowed to express an opinion, and I think forum rules state no rudeness. I’m sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.
