Speak up for the dead. Speak up for life.

May God be with them,
Ed

God bless these students! I wish for their voice to be heard. It seems we need diversity awareness on this college campus.

Thank you for the encouraging words and prayers! If not for your support, none of us would be able to continue our respectful, prayerful, and civil demonstrations on campus. God bless and go Irish! Sincerely, the fourth kid on that video (herloyalson.wordpress.com)

It’s sad that Fr. Jenkins touts the civil rights struggle of the 50’s and 60’s but does not make the connection to the civil rights of the unborn. Once upon a time America’s laws denied the personhood of black people. Now they deny the personhood of the unborn. Barack Obama supports and promotes these unjust laws. What does Fr. Jenkins say to that?

If the connection to human rights is not made, the opposition to abortion will continue to be marginalized as a “Catholic issue” only. I fear that Fr. Jenkins’ stated commitment to the “sanctity of life” is mere lip service.

Domer, you do realize that Fr. Jenkins has hired a third-party public relations firm for the express purpose of dealing with this Obama situation, right? Just another facet of their PR campaign–quelling the fears of alumni.

Ugh. If I’ve learned one thing in my 3 1/2 years at ND, it’s that Fr. Jenkins is all talk on the issues that matter. He lost his spine during my freshman year (and his) with the “Academic Freedom and Catholic Character” debate of Spring 2006 that raged over the V-Monologues, and he ain’t gonna find it ever again. Battles have been lost, and this is the war…IMO.

As a young alum, there’s no way in heck I trust ND News & Info, the ND Alumni Association, Notre Dame Magazine, nor any of the other official ND PR outlets for my information on what is going on at ND. I keep this university which has taught me so much in my prayers, but will not be supporting it financially and will more than likely be sending my children elsewhere.

I thought that article was just a load of spin…civil rights should start in the womb

The Sunday show had Leahy and Hatch talking about the Supreme Court vacancy.

I think it was Hatch who said - paraphrasing - that he wants a judge that will show equality to everyone, except he did not mention the unborn. It was very disappointing that they are always left out. There was an opportunity and he didn’t take it.
