I agree…

This is yet another highly visible example of a catholic going astray.

Its like the Pope is all alone in this. Where are the Catholics who back him up?

All we ever see is Nancy Pelosi, Biden the Kennedy’s…and now this.

Our Catholic faith looks weak.

You guys are wrong on not wanting to let Obama speek at Notre Dame. Sure he is completely lost and may be the antichrist but you are judging him based on the fact that he is pro abortion. The Catholic Church and Jesus is the leaders here, not Obama. We should feel confident and strong enough to welcome this guy as president of the United States to give the speech. We should treat Obama the same way we would treat St. Joseph or anyother person if we met them. The guy is not coming to Notre Dame to give a pro abortion speech, can’t you look past that part of him and see the good in the man. If during his speech he did throw in some things that were wrong, so what. The main thing about being a true Christian is that we have to be confident in Jesus. We have to be confident enough so that it doesn’t matter what other people say or how they vote, that is how you lead and the Church is the leader here. We should welcome Obama and look forward to his coming, Notre Dame is being given a great opportunity to welcome Obama and let him feel the warmth of Christ and a Catholic school. We can still disagree with Obama on basically everything and still put everything aside rather than outcasting him and saying you can’t come here. So what again what Obama says, why feel threatened by Obama, it’s an honor to have your President come speek at your school. We don’t need to fight with Obama, welcome him and hopefully he will come to the light. Jesus said “I judge noone.” What that means is he would show you the same love if he saw you on the street if you just commited 10 murders than if you just gave everything you had to the poor. Let’s show that same love to Obama. We don’t have to change our position on anything, let’s just tell the guy, “Hey, you are wrong on abortion but let’s just have a good time and thanks for coming to speek at our school.” That’s how you bring people to Christ, now by critiqueing them.

Nobody is judging Obama the person but his anti life policies. Big difference! Obama is the most anit life politician known up to date. His stands on life are in clear opposition to the Catholic Church. Obama upholds an intrinsic evil that flies in the face of Gods commandment to uphold life from conception to natural death, "those who recieves a child in my name **recieves **me, he says. The opposite is also true, those who reject a child in my name, rejects me. Obama preferes to put those doctors in jail which give aid to children who survive obortions. This anti life position is beyond sick! Really, this is barbaric. We can not support a politician even if its the president who find no wrongdoing in waging a war on the innocent. Its that simple. Obama is well aware of the opposition the Church has against abortion, and has repeatedly opposes any arguement contrary by Bishops and others. Hey, lets agree to say no to drugs but lets invite a drug dealer to speak at our party!!! What message does that send to those young kids who are still developing their consciences’??

Matthew 18:17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell the church. If he refuses to listen even to the church, then treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector…
In other words, kick them out…even less give them platforms to speak.

One last thing, Obama does not equal St Josepth!!! Joseph loved, respected and raised a Child that wasnt his!!! Obama is more like Herod, who sought to destroy the baby!!!

Obama conversion we pray, his policies NO WAY!

In Christ!

Maybe your right, maybe your not. Whatever happens will be the right decision that was made. The only things that we can say are actually wrong are things that go against the Cathechism of the Church and it says nothing about that it is a sin to let a person who supports evil policies from speeking or from being friends with these people. I can try to find good in anything unless it directly goes against the Church’s infallible teachings. And as far as jailing doctors who won’t perform abortions and the such, it is crazy but isn’t that what we want at the same time. I don’t know who is the best president ever, Obama or Bush. There is two ways of looking at it, I guess they are both the best in their own time. Bush was the strongest in that he led this country as a Christian but then Obama is the best because he is making true Christians stand up and really choose between Jesus and Satan. This Notre Dame scenario will be interesting to see how it plays out. Revelation says “and the beast will make war with the lamb.”

Obama is not a direct threat to me. Yet. When it comes to pushing the abortion and euthanasia agenda, I may yet find myself as his target, along with the disabled and elderly. But he is a direct threat to a million babies a year. Honoring him dishonors the babies.

Matthew 18:17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell the church. If he refuses to listen even to the church, then treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector…
Good point. And how, exactly, did Jesus treat Gentiles and tax collectors?

Good point. And how, exactly, did Jesus treat Gentiles and tax collectors?
This is a two side question that deserves two answers…

First Answer; Jesus loves them, He loves Obama too, if thats what your asking. Jesus sat with sinners, but he sat to convert them, not to indulge with them. As outsiders of the Church, Gentiles and tax Collectors are to be evangelized and welcomed into the Church so as long as habits contrary to scripture get checked at the door. Jesus came to save them also, to save the nations, so as long they have a change of mind and repent from sinful old ways. Without this inner change of mind, they stay out of God salvation plan.

Second Answer: All converts into the the Church, Gentile, tax payer, or Jew are to abide in all Church teaching. Matt 18:17 was addressed to Jewish Christians, those already in the Church. As Christians, if they refuse to listen to the Church (aka abortion), treat them as a genile tax collector. IOW, they are to be removed from the Church. In Jewish tradition, Gentile and Tax collectors were understood to by outside of Jewish Salvations.

Obama has chosen to keep himself outside of the Church ( he fits the 1st Answer), by not having that change of mind that is required for conversion, or at minimal on the issue of abortion. In fact, he believes Abortion is OK, the thought of killing children does not even cross the plane in his conscience that it might not be right…

In Christ!!!

It seems the 9 brothers of the order who started Notre Dame have signed a letter asking Notre Dame to dis-invite President Obama.

I like that.

I don’t know the source, but Fox News reported that someone in the Catholic Clergy questioned whether Notre Dame should even be considered a Catholic College any more. I tend to agree with that.

I’m considering sending anything that I have with “Notre Dame” on it to the college, because I will never wear anything with their name on it again, unless things change at the University.

Here’s a quote from my own bishop, George Lucas of Springfield, Ill., that makes a great point:

“It is hard to imagine the university honoring someone, no matter his office, who had consistently spoken against the value of football. We are not being unreasonable when we expect the value of human life to be a central focus of a Catholic university.”

AMEN!!!

Here are excerpts from a letter from Archbishop Beltran of Oklahoma City to Father Jenkins on April 14, 2009:
With regard to Notre Dame University’s invitation to President Obama to speak at your commencement and to be honored with a law degree, I find you most recent statement troubling and equally as scandalous as your original statement.
Your justification as presented in today’s news is unacceptable. In fact, it is casuistic and arrogant. The only right choice for Notre Dame University is to publicly rescind the invitation to the president and the plan to honor him with a law degree.
