This is a very interesting article. I believe that caution should always be exercised with private revelation, but that it obviously cannot be discounted out of hand, unless of course it speaks contrary to the public teaching of the Church.

I would like to think that if Our Lady were to appear to me, I would have the courage that Bernadette or Juan Diego had to proclaim the words of Our Lady in spite of a skeptical bishop as well as the charity to recognize that this skepticism is necessary on the part of the Church.

I also believe that God speaks to us frequently if we only open our ears and our hearts to His call. Sometimes this may be a supernatural thing, or other times it may appear to be natural. Either way, we must discern if the message is Divine in origin and if so, discern it’s meaning and do our best to follow it, always remembering that God would not direct us to act or speak against the Church which He has given to us.
