THIS IS GREAT, GREAT, GREAT NEWS COMING FROM OUR LADY’S UNIVERSITY!!!

The University of Notre Dame is making bold pro-life statements and the initiatives are bearing fruit!!! 😃

I CAN’T BE HAPPIER!!!

Although, I cannot say I agree (at all) with the decision of bearing an honorary doctorate of laws to the most pro-choice President of all time, I honestly believe this chaotic time for Notre Dame and her administration caused the institution to dig deep and really analyze her Catholic identity and dedication to life.

THIS IS A GREAT READ. I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE CLICKING ON THE LINK. OH HAPPY DAYS AT ND!!! LET’S HOPE THEY STAY. PRAYERS ARE BEING ANSWERED MY FRIENDS 👍

I think that they were surprised by the anger and disgust at the university their little award ceremony drew

I suspect they are now feeling the pinch in their wallets

I am glad they are trying to ,now after all of the anguish they caused, do the right thing

I would have been more impressed had they not been forced into it

I think Jenkins should resign

Not that this isn’t a good step in the right direction, but I didn’t notice very much obligation on the part of the University (and NONE on the faculty who seem to have been strong promoters of the scenes that caused the problems). Having the President attend or send a delegate… wow, that’s a tough one, huh? Encourage alumni, increase awareness, etc. etc. Nothing really concrete like “We’ll stop teaching heretical views in the classroom.” Even the first step, “We will teach Catholic views in the classroom” would be nice. How about, “Our President will attend and take at least 25 faculty members with him.” That would be concrete, something meaningful and measurable.

Again, I don’t want to sour their efforts at figuring out where they are and where they need to go, I do think it’s the right direction, but what’s reported is a bunch of fluffy recommendations that some secretary is going to take care of and track. It’s not going to impose on them very much that I can see.

Close Barn Door after Horses galloping away.

I hope they are sincere and will actually take action.

You say this is great, and maybe you are right. But, I don’t trust them. Isn’t that a bad thing to say about a “Catholic” university? It is too little, too late for me. Most of those recommendations should have already been in place. And, they are just that recommendations, not what they have actually done. Who knows what the final product will be. Plus, they have still not stepped forward to drop the charges on the pro-life protesters, including priests. So, no, I don’t think it is “great”. I think that they need to do a lot more and have a good track record, plus get a president who doesn’t have to have such an outcry for him to realize that they have gone too far. That is just my opinion. 🤷

From what i’ve read it is of my opinion that Notre Dame should no longer be classified as a Catholic University. There liberal professors and some Priest have rode on the back’s of the CAtholic Church far to long. To me Notre Dame quit being Catholic over thirty years ago when it got caught up in the new ageism.

I think it will be interesting to see what type of relations develop between the new bishop and the university.

This sums up Marymount University in Arlington, VA as well. There may be crosses in the classrooms, but they are completely ignored and their meaning refuted by the majority of professors. Very disappointing but not surprising.

You echo my sentiments EXACTLY!!

I agree. I think this is the response to the pinch. Thank God the donors are more Catholic than the University.

Respectfully, I’d submit that you haven’t read enough, or all of the right sources, then.

For example, John C. Cavadini, a chair of theology and McGrath-Cavadini Director of the University of Notre Dame’s Institute for Church Life, was appointed to the International Theological Commission by Pope Benedict XVI in December.

There are many, many other examples of incredible, faithful theology and philosophy professors at Notre Dame, of which I know several personally.

I think Judy Brown of ALL when she stated one time that Notre Dame had not been Catholic for years. Just because you have certain good people in a institution does not make the institution good. But the same can be said for bad individuals. As Christ stated a good tree bears good fruit. Or like Father Corapi said one time about our heralded Catholic colleges that if you want a Child to flee from the faith send them to a Catholic College.

When I was a senior in high school, I had already sent my deposit in to go to Cal Berkeley, and I heard from Notre Dame afterwards. I chose Notre Dame, and I know, without a doubt that I made the right decision. My faith grew immensely at ND. I would never have met great Catholic teachers and role models at a secular state school.

It’s not just a few good people. I could go on and on for a long time about all of the good, faithful professors there. I wonder how many of them Judy Brown knows?

It’s easy to point fingers and make blanket generalizations. But that doesn’t make it right.

**Being as i brought her name into it i’ll only say trhis that i’m glad you had a good experience but there are many reports coming out of Notre Dame about liberal pro Abortion teachers and faculty. I suspect Judy Brown is quite familiar with many of the Faculty there. So why not go over to EWTN on there question and answers section and challenge her your self. She is very good at answering all Challenges and this way she is speaking for her self. I noticed you had no comment on Father Corapi’s statement either. And trust me i would trust Father Corapi’s opinion above 99% of the university Priest. **

All the good faithful professors you know from Notre Dame, were not able to have any influence on the scandal that was caused. Can you explain why such noble people would have no voice there? Were they silent, and simply relying on prayer to help?

Who said they don’t have a voice? There have been plenty of open letters to the editor in the school newspaper and magazine from prominent members of the faculty and alumni, on-campus demonstrations with similar speakers, donations to the endowment have plummeted, etc.

The fact is that private universities may take their faculty, students and alumni into consideration, but they don’t have to. It’s not like a public company where we’re all stockholders with voting rights, or a state government where we can opt for a recall.

You make a good point Havard.

However, it is still true it’s a scandalous event and breaks the heart of many Catholics to what happened. In the end, even if the University decides not to take into account the voice of it’s faculty and students, if it identifies itself to be Catholic, it is wrong to go so against Catholic teaching by supporting a man who promotes abortions.
