Day 6.
bumpOK, I haven’t read all the post, so please forgive me if I’m repeating but:
Am I the only one who has a little trouble with praying Day 4?
Code:...*I promise to die rather than ever offend Thee more.*..
she’s like the energizer bunny… it’s a continuous novena:thumbsup:Day 10 for the Holy Souls in Purgartory.

Nobody else has said anything about it. My advice would be to not say it if you have a problem with it. Its up to you.…I promise to die rather than ever offend Thee more…
But what are other’s thoughts on this? Or is this not a discussion forum? Sorry, if I’m outside the boundaries.Nobody else has said anything about it. My advice would be to not say it if you have a problem with it. Its up to you.
I also was somewhat taken aback by the part in the prayer that says “I will rather die than offend Thee again.”But what are other’s thoughts on this? Or is this not a discussion forum? Sorry, if I’m outside the boundaries.
Good. I was hoping I wasn’t the only one with a hesitancy. Not to nit-pick, but it’s “I PROMISE to die rather to offend Thee”, which is a little more hard-core than “I would RATHER than than offend Thee”.I also was somewhat taken aback by the part in the prayer that says “I will rather die than offend Thee again.”
I thought Whoah! This is a pretty serious thing to say. I am not St Alphonso Liguori. Oh well, Jesus knows I cannot possibly in my current state of spirituality make such a promise.
It shows what it will take to become a saint. In the meantime, I just to do my best and begJesus for assistance to become as holy as he wants me to be.
BTW. Today is Day 1 for Novena 2.

With that in mind, I DO SO LOVE this Novena. I’ve recently started saying Novena’s and this is my third version (the Holy Spirit and St. Philomena were recipients of my first two). This one, though, is touching, for I feel a kinship to the suffering souls in Purgatory, unlike the “unworthiness” I feel when praying to the Saints.
Does this make sense?
Your signature is so Christian. Why didn’t I think of that instead of resorting to being defensive?bumpTo PCMaster, hopefully honey roasted would count!
God Bless!!!

I pray God for the strength, if given the opportunity, to serve Him completely, dying to myself for love of Him.Nobody else has said anything about it. My advice would be to not say it if you have a problem with it. Its up to you.
You’re right as to I PROMISE to die, etc. because you were referring to Day 4. I looked at Day 1, 6, and 8 which have “I will rather die.” As to the difference of the two ways of expressing, I did not give it much thought. To me, both expressions indicate a very serious commitment.Good. I was hoping I wasn’t the only one with a hesitancy. Not to nit-pick, but it’s “I PROMISE to die rather to offend Thee”, which is a little more hard-core than “I would RATHER than than offend Thee”.

Yes. There is a joy in praying with them. I feel a kinship with them. I pray that this is an accurate outcome!!!I don’t have a sense of feeling unworthy while praying for the poor souls, but a sense of thankfulness that I have been given the grace to pray for them.
Now does that make sense?
