It is this Sunday:cool:

I will probably not get a chance to post again until Monday.

Prayers deeply appreciated. 🙂

Oblate of the Order of St Benedict:extrahappy:
Thanks everyone for your prayers!

An update 😃

As you may know, the Monastery of the Risen Christ has been closed (there are 2 monks still there, though. I know that financial help would be appreciated).

Our oblature is being transferred to New Camaldoli Hermitage on Sunday, July 14, 2013.

I (and we) would deeply appreciate your prayers.

Thank you!

A further update (and why I changed my av). The Monastery of the Risen Christ (up to 4 monks-3 priests and a brother 👍) has been "rescued" :extrahappy: by New Camaldoli Hermitage. It will switch “affiliation” from the Olivetans to Camaldolese over the next couple of years. Please, please say a prayer that the process goes smoothly-they are truly kind and holy men. 🙂

May God bless you and may st. Benedict’s Rule guide you.

Pray for me as I continue discernment to the Society of Jesus.

How’s it going Luigi Daniele? I’ve only just now seen this thread… You started the Novitiate in 2010, are you finished now? Is monastic life as rewarding as you expected? What’s your favorite part of the day?

Favorite part of the day: Lauds.

I’m an Oblate, not a monk-to be clear. 🙂

The monastery actually “closed” for around a year, but was saved by a nearby Camaldolese monastery, which is why I am back. 🙂

There are 5 monks there (4 priests-1 of whom is in a rest home at 97-prayers appreciated- and a brother). They are now on firm footing, and will actually be expanding the facilities.:cool:

🙂

Luigi, you confuse me. I thought you had gone back to your original status as a Secular Franciscan.

I did so only because the monastery was “closed” (they basically “let go” of their oblates). I attempted a return to the Franciscans because I need that 1 day per month to keep me Faith focused (I enjoy “talking things out”. Obviously, this is in addition to the supremely important assisting at Mass). I attended several meetings, but have never been “back” officially. 🙂

Benedictine-ism has always been my first choice. I would never have been involved with the Franciscans (whom I love, obviously), weren’t it for a mistake in identification (fault completely mine.:o ).

My great grandmother and family used to walk 2 days (1 day in each direction) yearly to be with “their” monk community. So it’s in the family, if you will.

Thanks for caring enough to ask. God bless you!🙂
