I have five cats and a dog. The dog (Bichon Frise) and one cat (Maine Coon) were purchased for a pretty penny. One cat (another Maine Coon) was given to me, another is a stray and the last, I adopted at PetsMart. The PetsMart baby is four years old and all the others are 14-20+.

This minagerie is the most I can handle. In the event I go on vacation, the vet bill for boarding costs more than the vacation (including a week in a hotel). It takes all the time I have, to keep the house reasonably clean, litter boxes changed, grooming, and above all, individual attention.

I’d like to do volunteer work for a rescue organization as a foster pet parent, but that will have to wait until the current crew thins out.

BTW, my parish has a special garden where you can bury your pets’ ashes. I haven’t tried it, yet. Currently, I bury the dearly departed at a pet cemetery.
What a lovely idea. Hope there is a statue of St. Francis there. I have seven dogs (under 17 pounds) and a creative use of gates at my house. I show dogs as a hobby and before you say, Show dogs?, let me say that they are beloved pets who happen to go to dog shows.

What type of dogs do you show?

For 42 years my mother raised show quality Shetland Sheepdogs. She bred one champion and bought a puppy who she showed to her championship. The last of our Shelties died last summer at age 16.

My mother was very good about selling puppies when there would be a litter of puppies, so we always had a lot of “pet quality” dogs with fabulous pedigrees. It was great since I was an only child. My brothers and sisters were dogs. 😃

Showed (and loved) Irish Setters for many, many years. Knees went, so for the last 20 years I have shown Australian Terriers.

Fellow pet owners and pet lovers,

We already have three dogs and two cats, and my husband doesn’t really want another dog,
Thank you for your thoughts!
I think that says it all. The question is…are you married or single? Marriage sometimes means not doing things we might like to becuase there is another persons feelings/ideas/concerns that are involved.

Give it up to God. Deal with the desire and give it to God. Be a great wife and love your husband. (and then love your pets!)

Wow, this is an old thread!

Since I posted last in this thread, I now have a new doggy, Jaxson. He’s a black lab and we’ve had him since last January. He is just the love of my life. Unfortunately, my cat attacked one of my kids and we no longer have her anymore. 😦

Here’s some pics

Presently we have 2 cats -

Zena -11 yrs - rescued as a kitten from her garage home. Her two siblings were also rescued and found homes for.

Montclare - 5 yrs - rescued as a feral juvenile. Very nice, but shy of people.

I’m considering adopting another cat but with my health situation I’m not so sure if I should or not. I do shelter work and fall in love very often with some beautiful cats and dogs. :o
