“Janotík surveyed 154 nuns from sixteen Benedictine monasteries across Germany. He then compared their answers to data from a nationwide survey, looking at all women and at Catholic women specifically. His results showed that the nuns reported much higher levels of satisfaction with life than either women in general or Catholic women.”

Probably happier because life doesn’t include kids and a spouse. Life is much easier and less stress without, no doubt.

Note, I am not implying easy is better.
 
You have no idea what you are talking about … a nun’s life is far from easy … they put in 20 hour days doing the services for others and making sure they get their prayer life in … and then there are always chores that they need to do to sustain their own lives … I studied to be a nun and was in a Convent for a year … so I know what I’m talking about … their happiness comes from being so close to God.
 
I know exactly what I’m talking about. Having a spouse and raising children is a whole different kind of stress than being responsible for oneself and living a life of charity in poverty.

A Nun is not responsible for herself … if she is a teaching nun she is responsible for every student in her class … then she goes back to the convent and is responsible for all the other nuns … you sincerely know not the pressures of being a nun … I was in a Convent for a year and I couldn’t handle the stress of the 20 hour days they put in … afterwards I married and had a child … I found it much easier to be married for 40 years and raise a child.
 
To each his own. Please don’t tell me what I don’t know, though. You don’t know me, or my experiences.
 
My apologies … it’s just that I’ve had the experience of being in a Convent, and I’ve also had the experience of being married for 40 years and raising a child … so I felt I had something to add to the conversation … you are right … I don’t know you and I can’t say you didn’t have a more difficult life than a nun would have.
