At this point in my life the friends I have that drink the most are Baptist.

Hey, at least he makes it appear that the consecrated Wine is actually Blood or a good equivalent thereof. (Rationalization FTW :D)
 
I regularly come across people who think Catholic fast works exactly like Ramadan. Isn’t it just basic knowledge for everyone to know at least something about Catholic fast? Guess not…
 
I have some good ones!

From my grandmother: “you know Catholics aren’t allowed to pray directly to God or Jesus, right? They have to go to confession and have the priest pray for them. That’s why they pray to all those saints”

From my Mormon boss to a Catholic priest at a hot dog restaurant: “Catholics only started baptizing by pouring water over the head during the reign of emperor Constantine, he changed the church law because his wife was afraid of water. That’s when they started baptizing babies, too.” He seriously sat there and tried to “educate” the Priest about Church history, claiming there hasn’t been a valid Pope in like 1700 years.

From the secretary at the Protestant church I was baptized at, while i was trying to get a baptismal certificate when I was in RCIA: “You’re becoming Catholic?! Do you want your children to be molested?”

From a former friend: “Anyone that takes their child inside a Catholic church should have CPS called on them and have the child taken away” This same person actually did report me to CPS, and told them all kinds of lies, like the house was filthy, I was starving my son, i wasn’t changing his diaper, he’s jaundiced, blahblahblah.

I find that a lot of my Catholic friends don’t know much about Catholic fasts 😃

WOW, with friends like that who needs enemies. In her heart she thought she was doing what was best for your son. She needs her head examined.
 
I’d say I’m shocked, but at my age not very much surprises me anymore. It’s disgusting that not only that someone would say that, but that others are reading it and believing it as well.

I’m liking this thread. I grew up in the Deep South in a Baptist household and Bible reading was a very serious matter. So, I got to know my Bible quite well.

Fast forward to more or less now - I’ve gotten the usual line that Catholics don’t read the Bible and I was very happy to prove them wrong! Also, a neighbor of mine some years ago would very seriously tell me that the Church was the Whore of Babylon. She said she was concerned for my soul, since Catholics were not Christian and could not be saved.

And just two week ago, I heard someone firmly state that having statues in church was idolatry.
