Sooo predictable conservative exaggeration, (or possibly, even perhaps mendacity?)
Nice $5 word. I always love to be hinted at being a liar with a word I have to go look up.

Richardols:
Which liberal or liberal organization has proposed that the police stop everyone, from toddlers to old women in wheel chairs? Let me have at least one name, please.
By not wanting to profile Arabs, and travelling a lot watching the TSA search everyone from toddlers to old woman in wheelchairs so they aren’t singling out a particular ethnic group, no one has to say this is what they want. Sometimes silence speaks volumes.

Singling out ethnics has nothing to do with TSA searchs. They search everyone.

Yes, it does. The thought process in this country has gotten so ridiculous that we can’t single out the one ethnic group in this country that is committing the crimes. Whether it’s the NYPD, LAPD, or the TSA, the have to search everyone for fear of constantyl getting sued.

No, they don’t. Everyone goes through the metal detector and the routine baggage search, but some passengers are selected for a thorough search. This is done, not because the people selected meet any particular profile, but based on random numbers. One time they searched Al Gore that way.

Now, given that we can’t search **everyone **that thoroughly, how does searching a former Vice President add to our security?

Vern,

It doesn’t add to our security…it just doesn’t “offend” anyone. Because after all, feelings are more important than lives.

More important that OTHER people’s lives – because those who push this kind of thing consider themselves immune.

You are correct. I was referring only to the metal detector and hand baggage search.

You might have a hard time persuading the black community (whence, unfortunately, come most of the petty felons) that they should be singled out and others given a complete pass on police scrutiny.

And that’s where profiling comes in.

If most terrorist acts were committed by left-handed, redheaded unicycle riders with one blue and one green eye, and you see a left-handed, redheaded guy wearing sunglasses inside and carrying a unicycle shipment box, you ought to check him out.

I didn’t know the black community was flying airplanes into buildings and bombing subways.

First of all, we’re not talking about “petty felons,” as you correctly point out.

Secondly, we’re not talking about giving others “a complete pass on police scrutiny.” We will continue general scrutiny – but give those fitting the profile extra scrutiny,

*As the Latin proverb tells us: ABVSVS NOT VSVM TOLLIT - the abuse does not take away the use.

Anyone know how to say this above phrase? In latin please*

And how are you going to check all the Moslems?
This would be a very penetrating question were it not put rhetorically.
40.png
Richardols:
Make them wear a red crescent on their coats like the yellow Mogen Duvid that the Jews had to wear in Nazi Germany?
No because some Muslims would not wear them and some non-Muslim liberals would wear them out of spite.
40.png
Richardols:
Perhaps you could order all Moslems to report to their local police precinct to be checked.
No because some Muslims would not comply and some non-Muslim liberals would clog up the precincts out of spite.
40.png
Richardols:
The cops could give them an Inspection sticker to fasten to their red crescent as proof of non-terroristhood.
No because some non-Muslim liberals would hand the stickers out compliments of the morning latte.
40.png
Richardols:
And, then you’d whine when the ACLU would challenge the crescents and the inspection stickers.
Sheesh. Pure genius. Let’s get this crescent and sticker scheme off the ground lickety-split just to keep the ACLU out of our hair.

Right-wingers are sooo predictable.
Yeah. It’s called occam’s razor: if it’s blue, has a beak, lives in a cage, and says chirp, then its probably a budgie.

Either state up front whom you would stop, do the math, or recant.

btw just because you filtered your disrespect through a thesaurus and came up with the word ‘mendacity’ doesn’t make it any the less disrespectful. Refrain please.

You’re kidding, right? 😉

Gerry Hunter:
This is rather stark, but it does make one wonder whether or not “racial profiling” is a euphemism for political correctness run amok.

HISTORY TEST

…

BONUS QUESTION (no multiple choice):

Who set off the bombs in the London Underground?

Blessings,

Gerry
BONUS QUESTION #2

In 1981 Pope John Paul II was shot in an assassination attempt by

a. Martin Luther
b. Elvis
c. Walter Cronkite
d. a Muslim male extremist between the ages of 17 and 40

While profiling is a great tool that has been used in the hunt for all sorts of criminals and it has grown so popular to have spawned numerous TV shows (“Cracker” and “the Profiler” to name just two) we must remember that it is just one tool in the box

And remember, while 100% of the 9/11 bombers may have been Arab Muslim men between 18 and 34, 99.99999999% of all the other Arab Muslim men between 18 and 34 are perfectly innocent so statistically there is no difference between searching all of them or searching every Buddhist grandmother.

as for those “history tests” they’re clever and all that but they tend to ignore just one or two events now don’t they

You might want to re-think your stats there and their relevance to the truth?

You have a strange definition of spite. We are all well aware of what happens to societies that force a group of people to show their religion publicly in order that they may be singled out as suspicious. Opposing such a system would be a very meritorious thing to do.
