I was surprised a thread had not been started yet.

I watched most of the hearing today. I did not know what to expect.

I do feel OJ was sentenced to more time than was deserved for what happened in
Las Vegas. He has had no discipline problems and sounded like he became an active Baptist while in prison and completed a few classes. He helped with a baseball team.
So I was not upset he was granted parole.

He is 70 now and has lost weight.
I pray he will not break any parole violations. He will really have to watch himself.

He won’t be released until October. So he can start another new chapter of his life.

He mentioned he missed 36 birthdays of his 4 kids in 9 years.

Of course, the families of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman missed more birthdays of their loved ones and will continue to do so.

He still seemed like the same OJ so I hope he will spend the rest of his life just
being a father to his 4 kids and staying out of trouble.

I listened to some Am radio discussion on this yesterday when it happened, they were talking to a few local prosecutors and they all said if this was anyone else that had committed the same crime, it would have been a year or less in county jail.

It may be taboo, but majority of the public convicted Simpson right off the bat, it made no difference a jury decided otherwise, people were glad he was sentenced to prison, even if it was for something unrelated. Im not sure what to think of these people, they probably claim to be good americans, but many want blood today, I think public executions would be a huge hit if they were brought back.

I pray for God to help him to stay on the straight and narrow for the time he has left in life, in Jesus’ name.

From a practical standpoint however I am not convinced he will manage to stay out of trouble. He will need God’s help and a lot of friend and family support.

Yes, many people thought the harsh sentencing he received was somehow payback
for being found not guilty for the double murders. However, our justice system doesn’t work that way. Or shouldn’t.

I agree. I hope he will find a good church community to belong to. He talked about his religious life and I pray he continues his religious walk.

I think this was almost certainly the case. This both opened some eyes to the fact that Black people are poorly represented in court vs Whites and reminded us of how much an expensive legal team can buy you.

While your premise may apply in general,I think OJ,being a celebrity and wealthy to boot played a larger role in his getting off scott free re the murder of his wife. This outcome I believe would have been the same regardless of race,if all other issues were the same.
After his aquittal,I watched the news here n Denver. They showed a group of black women in a shelter for abused women jumping up and down in delight that he wasn’t found guilty.:(I have to wonder, would their reaction have been the same had his wife been black as well? I bet not.
I also have to wonder if on some level he didn’t act out re this burglary ,wanting to get caught be punished to somehow make amends for Nicolie and Ron’s murder.🤷

I wonder if he’ll resume his “search for the real killer of Nicole and Ron.”

Amen.

Well OJ had the best of the best. And he won the first time. Seems like he had great representation. I mean, if they can convince a jury that you can soak leather gloves in liquid and they will slip on fine the next week, I’d say that’s some fancy talkin.

The only reason this is even in the news is because of who he is.
There are plenty of elderly men wasting away in prison. Where’s the pity for them?

He should have considerd that before commiting his crimes.
He’s served the minimum for the armed robbery. Whether we agree with it or not, he was acquited for the double murder; That case can’t (and shouldn’t) have any impact on this sentence. I don’t think we would want a justice system that operated in that way.

and I still think the jury in the double murder found him not guilty as payback for the 4 white cops found not guilty in the Rodney King case.
the prosecution in the OJ trial did a poor job. the jury could not relate to Marcia Clark. they identified more with OJ and
Johnny Cochran.

I am not feeling sorry for him. if he wanted his stuff back, which I don’t blame him for wanting, he should have gone about it a different way in retrieving it. the saying “choose your friends wisely” applies at any age!

You don’t have to just think it. Jurors have acknowledged it.

The prosecution proved its case. As you noted above, the verdict was determined by factors other than facts of the case.

They proved the case, but were not likeable to the jury. They didn’t have the celebrity
appeal of Simpson and Cochran and Marcia Clark was just wrong for the job.
I am not saying she is not a good prosecutor, but she was wrong for this case.
