The Dems couldn’t even get single payer when they had the advantage. What makes you think single payer will ever be an option?
We’ll get it when Chris Christie becomes president and the Democrats threaten to shut down the government. 🙂

What makes me think single payer will ever be an option? A disastrous roll out of a program that will more than likely collapse under its own weight, a president who has stated that he’s a proponent of single payer (not to mention a gullible an ill-infomred electorate)

The destruction of health care as it is now known is a pretty big disaster to let go to waste, for sure. With none of the uninsured signing up, millions more being discontinued from their policy, and reports of ninety million even not being able to be able to keep theirs in the years to come, there is no end in sight to the fiasco.
It all depends on whether increasingly desperate Americans continue to blame Bush for everything, or if Obama will finally be held accountable for legislation that not only has his fingerprints all over it, but his name as well.

They must really be desperate if they’re still blaming Bush for anything – for one thing, his name hasn’t appeared on any ballot anywhere since 2004.

Mr Cohen’s justification fits in perfectly with the leftist sense of truth, as I have come to understand.
For the left, lies are justified as long as they move the country further along the path to the socialist utopia that is their ultimate goal.

Truth is not an ultimate value. Equality is the ultimate value. If telling the truth furthers the left along to that goal, great, but if not, then there is nothing wrong with lying.

Ergo, the leftists here are not all that upset about being lied to. It is not a big deal to them, not in the least.

The way that the argument usually is framed now, to counter the statement that Obama lied, is that Bush lied, and people died.

It is blaming Bush through obfuscation of what the current issue really is.
As a mode of logic, it is insane.
But as a strategy to get the base on board, it works, and is therefore rational.

They got that from a certain dictator who said that no matter what goes awry, blame the opposition.

I don’t think that the left has a monopoly on lying but can you just imagine if a conservative columnist had acknowledged that Bush lied but argued that it was necessary in order to get us into the Iraq war?

It’s good to know politicians who don’t have a clue as to how actuarial tables are set up are in a position to dictate insurance policies.

Yes, but this will make Hillary look good…

Over the years, I’ve thought nearly the same thing. The left is so focused on the end (equality, as you point out) that they don’t care about the means. And the left seems to have become very good at “the ends justify the means.”

There are similarities between the ACA and what is known as HillaryCare aka Health Security Act. HillaryCare had an employer mandate and an individual mandate.

If the Republicans are smart and Hillary Clinton runs for president, republicans should make a connection between the Affordable Care Act and the plan that Hillary Clinton was involved in even though HillaryCare never went into effect.

Face it everyone! We were directly told that the ACA had to be passed so we could find out what was in it! Isn’t it fun?? Did we learn anything from that offer? Why are people trying to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear? The *&#$ was made into a law and we are constantly being reminded of that…like because its a law there is nothing we can do about it. Can we not rescind the law? Can we not find fault? Can we not identify who lied over and over in an effort to stop anyone from finding out what was in the law? Stupid is as stupid does. The American people will continue to deny they were negligent in regards to the stewardship as good citizens or they will take the “bull” by the horns and exercise their intelligence. Learning that the number of fellow countrymen are happily smoking their medical marijuana and not giving a good darn about individual responsibility is discouraging. How many are making sure they know how to be on the “take”, avoid reporting the truth about employment as in wanting to be employed. The “free society” has taken on a new meaning. It will decline when the “free” money is not there for the grab. If a liar finds he is protected because “nobody” wants to challenge a lie, but sits around and complains that something just doesn’t add up and isn’t passing the smell test - then the liar wins!
Come on people … lets get it together! Right?
